When is it too late to Whitewash this Board?

That is actually an interesting hypothetical.

On the one hand, Donald Trump is an existential threat to not just the United States, but the entire world.

On the other hand, I really hate Duke and their fans would be insufferable if they win 10 titles.

Neither world sounds very good to me.
 
This is a center-left dominated board that is at times more hostile to anybody to the left of Joe Biden than it is to the semi-reluctant Trump voter and that I watched just recently go into overdrive manufacturing consent for another unjust, unnecessary war in the Middle East. The idea that it would be a target of this administration when it has been periodically doing some dirty work for them is maybe even more laughable than the self-importance needed to think that a message board this small might even register with them.

I agree with you on two points that you make:

1 )This is essentially a left of center board
2 ) It is highly unlikely that this board would show up on Kash Patel's radar ( although if an innocent father of three marines can be brutally assaulted and caged while simply doing his menial job in front of a Home Depot, it can give someone pause )

There are several points that you make that I disagree with :

1 ) No one is "hostile " to anybody who is more progressive than Obama and Biden unless posting disagreements with further left progressives is considered "hostile"

2 ) I don't think any left of center poster has advocated or supported war in the Middle East, nor do think any left of center poster has supported Israel's ethnic cleansing goals in Gaza or the war crimes Israel is committing on a daily basis.

3 ) When you characterize the board as self important for starting this thread, you are thinking concretely. The thread is more a reminder of Martin Niemöller's admonition and George Orwell' s 1984 giving us a dystopian view of what it would look like to be living in a totalitarian state

4 ) This is a symbolic thread of where we are in the march toward autocracy. I would respectfully suggest you reconsider your condescending post

I was wondering when a comment like this was coming... If you can't see the farce and actual sarcasm in the post, then you are the one who is laughable. And your comment is loaded with your idea of your own self-importance. Rube.

there's a difference between "center-left," which I said, and "left of center," which you said, and I think that may account for our disagreements re: #1 and #2. I made a point suggesting that police aren't very good at their jobs in the Minnesota assassination thread, which ended up being completely justified when the facts of the night came out, and was immediately attacked by multiple well-established posters, called among other things a troll, a conspiracy theorist, a criminal, and in need of institutionalization. A poster on the "Dems approval" thread was called "loony" for suggesting, factually, that the Clintons are fundamentally neoliberals. All of that is from the last two weeks... Maybe your definition of hostility is different from mine, but those certainly suit it. And as for #2, a perusal of the thread regarding attacks on Iran tells me that the most popular objections to Trump bombing Iran are that he didn't go through Congress and that he wasn't successful enough, rather than a righteous disfavor for the idea altogether. That's definitionally manufacturing consent. Perhaps you think the people making those comments don't qualify as left-of-center, which would be an interesting conversation, but that does seem to be the defining politics of this website.

I understand the farce and sarcasm just fine. Honestly, given that "you wouldn't be able to criticize an autocracy if it were really autocracy" has become a common right-wing rebuttal to the alarm bells from the left, such farce actually kind of does exactly the kind of Trumpian dirty work I'm talking about.

I confess I have not examined each specific post to which you refer and have drawn your conclusions.

I don't think the board consensus would be if Trump had just gone through Congress to get permission to bomb Iran we would be thumbs up in support, and it concerns me that you having been on this board, you would actually believe this to be the board consensus.

The right wing response that it's not autocracy because we can still criticize the government ( for now ) without being picked up and placed in a gulag does not obviate the fact the we are on that path, and making that clear no matter the expression is not doing Trumpion dirty work

Be that as it may- for what it’s worth the post is dripping with sarcasm and is indeed a farce… It was prompted by the recent Supreme Court decisions to stay on several decisions which do nothing but promulgate Trump‘s authority and autocracy from coming to pass. And given the likes of a Stephen Miller in the regime - and with DOGE having access to all of our information, the Domino’s are lined up and standing and ready to be knocked down.

I actually disagree. I don’t think this is entirely farcical. At least it isn’t to me.

I think that there is real risk here. I am not saying death camps but there is risk that our perfectly legal speech could be used against us by the government. (For goodness sakes, people who are here legally are being deported for simply protesting Israel.)

I say that because Republicans have spent a decade or more thinking that every Democrat is mentally insane, anti-American, etc. Spend just a little time on social media and you will see it. In addition they have shown the willingness to rationalize anything. They finally have a leader who is completely unconstrained by laws and norms.

I am not saying it will happen but the risk is real. And as I said earlier, this isn’t abnormal in world history.
