I lot of people hate Jamie but John, Beth and Rip are all horrible people. Kayce might be the only good one and even he walks the line.

I like the Jamie character. I cannot stand Beth and would love for her to get her comeuppance.

That’s always pretty jarring. Other examples:

Lionel in The Jeffersons
Daarrio in Game of Thrones
Maggie in Diff’rent Stokes
Darrin in Bewitched (at least both people who played him were Dicks)
Becky in Roseanne
He wasn’t one of the primary characters, but Morty, Jerry’s dad in Seinfeld, was originally played by an actor other than Barney Martin.

I watched season one with my wife. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't watch it of my own volition. Nothing good ever happened and it had exactly zero redeemable characters. Just a lot of drama about bad people that I can't make any connection with. Pretty girls, tho.

That’s the way I felt for the first four seasons. Then my wife and I started season 5 and we just couldn’t continue watching it was sooo bad. It’s a soap opera (with worse acting in some cases) with superior cinematography that shows beautiful scenery and more onscreen violence.

I thought 1883 and 1923 were better. Of course, 1883 was just a limited series and 1923 has only one season so far. I haven't heard if 1923 is coming back or not.

Sheridan's new show Landman looks good. Has Billy Bob Thornton, John Hamm and Demi Moore.
