    This thread allows me to mention a couple of really good poets I actually know. Tyree Daye is a wonderful poet. He teaches at UNC. He is also such a nice person. Meg Day teaches at NC State. Again, a talented poet and nice person.

    I'm a big Bester fan so I like that story a lot. You probably already know this, but Bester is the writer who first wrote the Green Lantern oath: "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!"

    Absolutely!! Yes, it does echo "The Cold Equations." Kessel writes what some term speculative fiction. He wrote a great book about lunar colonies called "The Moon and the Other."

    I also would be remiss if I didn't mention The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. He wrote it after serving in Vietnam so it has parallels to that experience.

    I highly recommend the novella "Think Like a Dinosaur" by James Patrick Kelly, and the novel "Corrupting Dr. Nice" (a time travel screwball comedy) by John Kessel.
