Almost everything on the Fox News website this morning is clearly deliberately designed to either anger or frighten Republicans. Food prices may skyrocket soon, an article on four liberal celebrities who who despise their conservative fans, Trump and conservatives getting the last laugh on a liberal Senate candidate, Iowa GOP State Attorney General tries to get American Academy of Pediatrics (AAAP) to warn that puberty blockers and hormone treatments for trans kids are cruel, abusive, and risky, lots of attacks and swipes at Kamala Harris, and so on. And as for real news, they do have a small story halfway down the page on the severe damage caused by Hurricane Helene. They're not even pretending to cover real news anymore - everything they do is deliberately aimed at stoking up the fears, disgust, and anger of their viewing base. And to be fair, I'm not really a fan of MSNBC or CNN either, but Fox News just takes the cake.

Exactly. They are living in their own bubble world because of their racism and bigotry. They are so scared of losing the advantage they have of being a straight, white Christian. They are scared of anything different than them because it might mean they will lose that one advantage they have in life.

Agree. Hate to politicize a weather event/natural disaster, and national response should always prioritize citizen safety and infrastructure repair over election year politics, but can’t ignore FL, GA & NC need help and could all go either way in 5 weeks.

And if they don't respond quickly and effectively then you know that Trump, Vance, and the GOP leaders in those states will try to take full advantage of it. Of course they'll complain anyway - some fringe Trumpers are claiming on twitter than the hurricane was somehow caused by Democrats - but as long as there is a quick and well-organized response then it could indeed win voters in all 3 states over to Democrats and might tip the balance.

We're only going to help people in your state if your governor likes me and does exactly what I want. And then you still probably aren't going to get as much help if you happen to live in a red state. Thems just the breaks.

No, the stakes of this election are way higher than infrastructure repair.

I'd put your point differently. There shouldn't be a gap between election year politics and infrastructure repair. Alas, that's not the world we live in.

Trump is generally more popular than Congressional Republicans in swing states
 
This is perhaps anecdotal, but I’m seeing a lot of Harris signs in my neighborhood when I go for my daily walk. I live in Alamance County. It has gone Republican in the last 11 presidential elections. In 2020 it went for the Orange Turd by 7,200 votes (53.5% to 45.1%). I didn’t see near the number of Biden signs I’m seeing for Harris. I’m not forecasting her to win this county, but if she can knock 1,500-2,000 votes off that deficit, and the result is the same in some other red counties, Harris just might win the Tar Heel State.
On another note , a couple who are diehard Republicans have removed the Robinson sign from their yard. I know what I’m seeing is a very small sample, but it does increase my hope come November 5.

The Republican couple might (likely?) still vote for Robinson; but, they don’t want to publicly admit it.
