If the US made voting easy by making the Election Day a national holiday, I’d love voting on that day. But of course we do not, because….??? ….too many of the wrong people might actually vote. So I prefer to vote early in person.
Some States do-I know West By God Virginia does

Give Trump credit for one thing. He figured out early on that the entire Republican party, and every single one of its voters, are a bunch of submissive beta cucks who relish being lied to and assumed to be easy marks. He exploited it masterfully.

Yep. As I’ve mentioned before, I was anti-Trump in 2016, but can give folks a pass for getting duped once. It’s anyone since about 6 months after he took office who still supports him (or doesn’t like him but clutches their pearls and still votes for him) who I have no respect for.

Same here. Perfectly stated. I was one of the moronic idiots who voted for him in 2016. Six months into his time in office was Charlottesville. Permanently lost me then.

On Nicole Wallace yesterday they were discussing the NY Times poll and dived down into one question about trustworthiness where Harris has over a 10 point advantage (maybe it was 15?) Anyway comparing it to 2016, Harris and Clinton had similar favorability ratings, but in 2016 Clinton and Trump were rated about the same in trustworthiness. The trust advantage could really help Harris in 2024's election.

The above is a really interesting perspective on the differences between male and female politicians in general and between Trump and Harris in particular. It raises the issue of "protection" in a way that I, as a male, never really thought about. It also raises what a narrow path female politicians, like Harris, must walk.

ETA: The author makes the point that men providing protection to women far too often provide a protection racket, as in, pay for my protection or I'm the one you'll need to be protected from.

I sure hope that Harris can win this without needing any of the states affected by Helene or Milton. I can foresee people creating a disinformation campaign about “unfair voting” due to the hurricane if North Carolina, Georgia or Florida goes blue…
