Someone awhile back said that if the MAGA base wasn't in favor of having women in top leadership roles then why were some GOP women serving as state governors or members of Congress?
Yeah, the "I don't mind a republican woman as governor" and "I have plenty of black friends" rationalizations for misogyny and bigotry kind of melted away in the Virginia gubernatorial beatdown of Winsome Earle-Sears. To lose by 15 points in the Old Dominion, plenty of pubs needed to stay home.

Lummis announces retirement from Senate

“Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) announced Friday she will not seek reelection to the upper chamber next year, setting up an open seat primary in the ruby red state.

Lummis made the announcement after the Senate adjourned for the holiday break, a move that will end her stay after a single term in office.

… The move makes her the fifth Senate Republican to head for the exits next year, joining Sens. Joni Ernst (Iowa), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Thom Tillis (N.C.) and Tommy Tuberville (Ala.).

It also means another primary could be on tap. Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) is considered a top-tier option to run in her place next year in what is among the reddest states on the map.

The primary is set for mid-August.

No Democrat has held a Senate seat in Wyoming since 1977.…”

Yeah, I live in VA and despite polling leading up to the election, I said I’d be shocked if it was closer than 10 points. It was a bigger blowout than I expected but no way MAGA’s or even some country-club Reagan Pubs were turning out for a black female.

It is a Kamala +17 district, so would’ve been a catastrophic loss for Dems, but OTOH they had a much larger margin than Harris in this special election.

Also, I don’t want to be mean but I swear I thought that was a photo of Tyler Perry at first glance.

Like the part that doesn't show on the tweet embed...

"Curtis Sliwa says Mamdani has a mandate as NYC mayor and urges his supporters to give him a chance at running the cityWSJ: “Will you ask New Yorkers who voted for you to give Zohran Mamdani a chance?”Sliwa: “Absolutely. He won a majority. He has a mandate. The Masters of the Universe, the billionaires, did everything they could to make sure he wasn’t the mayor. It didn’t work. He’s a great organizer.”
