Sherrod Brown is running against this guy. I thank that guy for explicitly articulating the GQPer philosophy that low income people are stupid and lazy and deserve no help from the government.

Those poor people can't even find their own bootstraps!

"Sen. Jon Husted: "People living in poverty are just not very, um, experienced at navigating the real world, right? I remember talking to one young lady who said, 'Well, I don't really know how money works at a grocery store,' because she grew up and has lived all of her adult life using SNAP cards to buy groceries. You literally have to teach people how to budget ... the buzzword today, let's face it, is 'affordability.'"

Since Republicans have fully taken over the Ohio state government, they have repeatedly cut state income tax at the expense of education. Some wealthier, mostly suburban districts have increased property taxes to offset the reduction in state funding, but poorer districts in the rural counties and bigger cities with more poverty have been unable to make up those cuts. So Husted is complaining about a situation he has been fully complicit in creating and perpetuating.

Go ahead. I dare you. I double-dare you, Motherfucker.
Even if Cornyn got rid of the filibuster for voting laws, you know darn well that Fetterman would never agree to reciprocate by getting rid of it for other laws, so unless Democrats can get 51 senators, it doesn't make a difference what Republicans do with the SAVE act filibuster.

That said, I don't think there are 50 yes votes yet for eliminating the filibuster for voting laws. Even with Cornyn on board, you are not likely to get Tillis, Murkowski or McConnell. Cramer, Lankford and Collins would all be challenges, too.

My U.S. representative (Alma Adams) will be 80 when this election takes place. She will undoubtably win what is a very blue district (and one of only two that we presently have in NC). It’s too bad that people seem to think it’s bad form to primary her with a serious candidate. We could use someone younger. And unlike Clyburn, she is a rather anonymous member within our House. Other than voting the right way, I’m not sure what else she does. Jeff Jackson was briefly my U.S. rep before the lines were redrawn and in just his first and only term, he became a rather prominent member.
