If this one is over, then it is because Berger decided to keep some of his powder dry for some off-year fuckery directed at Rockingham County. A snake like Berger is not just going to walk away. He will make sure his supporters in the NC Senate know he's coming back and that they need to make Sam Page and Rockingham as miserable as possible from January 2027 to January 2029. I just wish there was a viable Democrat running in November for that seat. But Gavin Newsome would have a better chance at carrying South Carolina in the 2028 election than a Democrat will have in winning the Rockingham/Guilford 2026 state Senate seat.

Probably not. Nova and Richmond wanted those laws, and as long as Trump is around this voters will come out in droves to vote against Trumpism. The red areas are pouty about it, but they don’t have the numbers statewide to do anything about it.
That's a hell of a gamble when the future of our country is at stake. Don't pass stupid laws that push the middle back towards the right.Might turn out ok.

Maybe these stupid laws should be called "gerrymandered laws?" The reason there's a demand for them is that legislatures want to head off primary challengers coming from the extremes. Being stupid works if it helps win a primary. Still f'ing stupid.

gun control is maybe Spanberger's single foremost issue. she'd alienate more of her voters by not doing something when she had the chance than she would by passing it. typically, folks want their governors to govern.
You can govern without going to the extreme. The test result already came through....the blue drubbings that had been occurring throughout the country turned into a red drubbing in Virginia for some reason. And now the RNC can motivate single-issue voters with the "Dems want to take your guns away" messaging which is incredibly effective.
