President Blames D.E.I. and Biden for Crash Under Trump’s Watch

President Trump’s remarks, suggesting without evidence that diversity in hiring and other Biden administration policies somehow caused the disaster, reflected his instinct to immediately frame major events through his political or ideological lens.

“…Mr. Trump cited no evidence, and even admitted when pressed that the investigation had only just begun.

Moments later, he blamed the pilots of the Army helicopter that appeared to fly into a passenger jet that was on final approach to Reagan National Airport, across the river from the capital.

Mr. Trump went back and forth between blaming diversity goals that he said were created by President Barack Obama and President Joseph R. Biden Jr., and then saying that an investigation was necessary.

His instant focus on diversity reflected his instinct to immediately frame major events through his political or ideological lens, whether the facts fit or not.

It is something he has done before: After a terrorist attack in New Orleans a month ago, he blamed illegal immigration, even though the attacker was a U.S. citizen born in Texas. …”

“… “For some jobs, we need the highest level of genius,” he [Trump] said.

Of the F.A.A. under Mr. Obama, Mr. Trump said: “They actually came out with a directive, too white.”

… Mr. Trump named a new acting head of the Federal Aviation Administration during the news conference; none had been appointed by him until Thursday. The appointee did not speak at the news conference, nor did the head of the National Transportation Safety Board, who was also in the room. …”

In other words, as 47% of the country has been saying for years, Trump is literally the last person in the world we want standing behind a microphone at moments like this.

The complete disappearance from this board of all the people who had been defending Trump speaks to what's happening now. THE WORST FIRST TEN DAYS EVER.

This is a hedge. If everyone involved is a white man, they'll still blame DEI because those white men were all under stress due to DEI created incompetence around them.
Hilarious that they’re citing disability hiring as reason for this. Do they think AA hired a blind guy to fly the plane? They really wish they could just say Black people.

DEI aside, he's not wrong. If the FAA is under staffed or has had difficulty getting qualified workers, it's possible that it has resulted in a tragedy.
If you limit who you hire based on non-relevant job requirements, that is when you get an understaffed and unqualified FAA. Read up on Griggs v. Duke Power.

That you are telling folks that I have anger issues is incredibly ironic. Between the two us, only you have broken your hand punching a wall, after posting/reading this site. Whether knowingly or not, you are one of the bigger trolls on this site. Your needlessly long posts asserting things as facts, only to go back and shift the goal posts when folks point out the fallacies in your comments, so as to try to save face, are only topped by your subsequent "woe is me" threads where you try to play the victim of verbal abuse.

If folks care enough, they can read the thread where I, and others, were pointing out issues with the basketball team, HD, and staff, just like they can go read my response to you regarding your comments about Belichick. They will not see someone with anger issues. They can, also, find the numerous threads that you derail and create, forming their opinion of you. I have already. You are a troll.

(And yes, I do recognize the bait you've put down in your posts to me and Snoop. And, that is why, this will be my last response to you on this topic. I hope you enjoy your follow-up troll attempts.)
1. If I am a troll, then the word has no meaning. I'm literally the opposite of a troll.
2. Punching the wall was not anger. There's no need to go into it with you.
3. I basically never shift the goal posts when people point out fallacies. Sometimes people point out things that they think are fallacies but are not. When I cite facts, I either back them with sources or they are claims within my expertise about which I am confident.
4. You've been angry on multiple basketball threads. It's quite clear. Whatever, I'm not arguing with you any more. You were angry at other people on the thread this morning and you decided to take it out on me. Again, the fact that you said something stupid is not a reason to tell me fuck you.

I have no idea if there are non-relevant job requirements. I've never determined requirements for an FAA position.

I thought I just read that the FAA hired more air traffic controllers in 2024 than in any other year in history.

In any event, it's hard to take claims that the government is understaffed seriously when those claims come from the people currently trying to bully as many federal employees as possible out of their job.
