The following are the requirements to be an air traffic controller. For a job that starts at ~$72K per year and caps out at $184K. And mandatory retirement age is 56. I don't see much there which would need special DEI requirements. I wonder how Trump is going to raise the standards? Change the test? Include and IQ test? WTF?
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be registered for Selective Service, if applicable (Required for males born after 12/31/1959)
  • Be younger than 31 years old before the closing date of the application period (with limited exceptions)
  • Have either one year of general work experience or four years of education leading to a bachelor’s degree, or a combination of both
  • Speak English clearly enough to be understood over communications equipment
  • Be willing to relocate to an FAA facility based on agency staffing needs
  • Successfully pas the FAA air traffic pre-employment test

Saying that fully qualified people with disabilities caused the accident is very much punching down.
I'm not talking specifics here. I'm must saying, in principle, being short handed or staffed with under qualified people, when you're talking about managing aircraft routing, can result in something like this. Under qualified people CAN put stress on those around them.

And the best way not to be short staffed in the future is not to impose any artificial restraints on the job applicant pool -- the exact opposite of what Donald Trump is doing.

Put this in the other thread too but look at this trash::

This White House is not interested in solving any problem. Simply in culture war shitposting and casting blame. What a disgrace.
I was expecting Trump 2.0 to be a disaster, likely much worse than Trump 1.0. So far he's VASTLY exceeding my expectations.

The FAA’s language encouraging the hiring of people with disabilities, including intellectual and psychiatric disabilities, was featured on the agency’s website throughout Trump’s first presidency and at least as far back as 2013, as the fact-check website Snopes has previously reported. You can click here for the version of the web page captured by the Internet Archive in December 2020, the last full month of Trump’s first term.

Firsth5 it was DEI, then Biden, then all the Dems; then Secretary Pete and now it is the Army pilot
Trump as always is more focused on affixing the blame as opposed to fixing the problem

Trump once again mentioned we are now focused on only hiring the best white males for all positions

Nothing but the best says the man whose entire cabinet is comprised of the best adulterers he could find

Because to people like Trump, assigning blame IS solving the problem. The problem is always people, never process with his kind.

I guess this is why I’m no longer Republican but I truly cannot imagine living my life with as much judgment, hatred, and animosity for people whom I don’t know and whose only transgression is that they just want to be able to live their lives. I save every ounce of my hatred and animosity for the people who punch down.

Just placing this here for further documentation of one of the most grotesque actions ever undertaken by a United States president.
I hear you, man, but I'm not sure this even makes Trump's top 10 list of grotesqueness. If you count nominations, I'm not sure it makes the top 10 list of Trump 2.0 grotesqueness. Gaetz was more grotesque, as is Hegseth, Patel and RFK.

You may be right. Could easily be a prisoner of the moment reaction on my part. Am just floored that they haven’t even pulled 70 bodies out of the Potomac yet, much less even begun to conduct an exhaustive investigation, and the freaking president of the United freaking States of America is calling everyone in federal aviation security a product of woke DEI hiring.

Yep. You're not wrong about the grotesqueness.
