ACCT: dook Biorhythms, 7:00 pm Start

Unless Withers just wasn't in a place to go into the game, you need to put him in there instead of VAL. And if he's not available to go in, you let someone else set the screen.

You can't expect that RJ is going to get the ball in that situation because everyone knows that he's our first option. So you need as many shooters on the floor as possible and VAL just isn't that guy.

The chances were pretty slim that anyone hits a 3 there. I wouldn’t have felt any better about Withers taking it. That’s just a tough situation to score in.

As awful as the lane violation was (and it was bad), we were 3-17 from 3 with Cadeau(!) making all 3. That and the poor free throw shooting are the strories (and a complete meltdown the last 5 mins of the first half).

How do we not have any sets to get Ian an open shot at this point in the season? Is he really asked to just pound the ball and step back 3 everytime?
dook was 5-22. Did they not have sets either?

Dude, Withers was crying on the bench lol

And we had three options designed before Lubin. The play was fine.

Cadeau shows again and again and again how low IQ a player he is.

Jackson and Powell soiled their pants sometime shortly after tip.

Washington got bullied on the court and by the refs and looks like a sad puppy now.

Withers and RJ no-shows.

Lubin and Trimble the only two showing much fight, and unfortunately neither of them can hit a 3 to save their lives.

Pretty much worst case scenario. It’s always been a bad matchup with their skilled size at every position, but I can’t blame the committee for bouncing them if this doesn't change dramatically.
THEY SHOWED UP!! Fought their asses off 👏

Cadeau may never learn that the first few minutes of the game are as important as the last few, but at least he showed the gear we all knew he had.

Lubin and Trimble were warriors all night. RJ was stunted by their length and quickness but still drew a lot of attention and never quit scrapping.

Feel awful for Withers. Brutal mistake and a brutal human moment. I hope that’s not his last shot at redemption.

I’m ok whether they’re in or out. I just wanted to see that kind of fucking fight, win or lose.

If they’re in, NOBODY is going to want to draw them as such a low seed.

That's why I said "unless Withers wasn't in a place to go into the game". I didn't see him during that time, but I figured he might not have been up for it.

The play was fine, the personnel was not. With that amount of time on the clock, you're not gonna have a chance at a rebound. You need 5 shooters on the court.

I’ve already taken my sleeping medication and I’m not the smartest person anyway but I always feel like the almighty dollar rules all and UNC is surely a bigger draw than whoever the committee would put in over UNC.

2 seperate issues
1. We were terrible shooting the ball from 3. Apparently so was dook. We have to make 3's to win. dook doesn't.
2. Ian never gets an easy look, ever. Maybe that is his own fault. Maybe not. Seems like we could run something to get him an open look. The curl play that we've run for RJ a bunch this year for example. Run the same action for Ian. He always comes in and immediately pounds the ball for 5 seconds and then shoots the stepback or tries a crazy drive.

I don’t care to go back and look but I’m pretty sure they cut to him during the time out and his eyes were red and glassed over like the tears had already started.

To set screens to free up shooters.

The play was designed to get the ball into RJ's hands but we couldn't get it to him. dook defended the inbound well.
I understand that, but JWit can screen, so can IJ. Hell, Cade can even screen. All of them are better options at 3, if the play breaks down. And, the staff should have known that Duke was going to prevent RJ from getting the ball.

When I say that HD doesn't always help his players/team, it's things like this.

We don't even have 5 shooters on our roster 😂

I don't doubt it. I fully understand why he might not have been in a place to be in the game at that time.

I know he feels terrible. I'm annoyed at that lane violation, but I really hope his teammates pick him up. He might have made the most obvious error of the game, but his was far from the only mistake.

It was the right call but man so ticky tacky ... I felt there was some eagerness to protect the ACC one seed there...

I think the problem was that he realized it and jumped back like he'd been shot.

It was so obvious what he'd done he didn't leave the refs any choice but to call it.

Poor Jae'Lyn.
