Not gonna happen. That 35% are the haters. His base. The worst of the deplorable. He already pissed many of them off with the Epstein cover-up. Gotta keep throwing them red meat.

Trump is a tv president. I'm thinking he hasn't been pleased with tv covering the jack boots rounding up brown folks willy nilly and protesters confronting them along with the general public beginning to recoil to see the inhumanity of his pogrom

Disagree. I think it ramps up, exponentially. He’s a tv president, yes, but he wants domination, and that plays on tv. Trump exists in a bubble of friendly polls, friendly media, and sycophants. He does whatever makes him feel powerful; he’s now surrounded by quite literally the worst of humanity; and those folks are far, far smarter than Trump. He’s Stephen Miller’s puppet.

He watches CNN,MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS so he can see how the legitimate news is covering him. Hey also scans the NYT ,WAPO, and WSJ to see how newsprint is covering him.

He is a narcissist ... he longs for acceptance from the general public just as he has longed for years to be accepted among the NYC elite who have rejected him as the crude unsophisticated lout that he is

I imagine that Trump stews realizing that the only people who accept him for who he truly is are those in MAGA world who he belittles in private.

Thats likely true but its also true that no block millions of votes could exist without single individual votes. Your vote is your only civic responsibility in any election. Either you exercise that responsibility in a way that maximizes the weight of it or you do not. That is your choice.

Why are Republicans happier than Democrats? Because currently Republicans are making Democrats miserable and that is their unifying goal. That's the "win". It isnt policy or outcome driven. It's base "make em squirm" mentality. Republicans as constituted today are not happy unless making an equal or larger number unhappy.

I'm not so sure that CNN, ABC, or CBS qualify as "legitimate" news sources anymore, given that they have all folded to Trump like a cheap tent. On MSNBC even Scarborough traveled to Mar-a-Lago and made a preemptive surrender right after the election last year. The WSJ is a right-wing Murdoch property and has been for years, and the WaPo has moved sharply to the right (and shed many of its top reporters) since Bezos made buddy-buddy with Trump last year. And the NY Times has become a relentless bosiding joke, imo. So it is quite possible for him to see little but news that either praises him or at least rarely criticizes him in any substantial way. His press conferences are a true joke, with many right-wing reporters asking him softball, promotional questions that allow him to brag on himself.

I do agree that he's a classic narcissist, and I do think that it's eaten away at him for years that that the people he claims to despise - the dreaded liberal elites - are the very people whose support and respect he's wanted for decades, but can never get because of his loutish and crude behavior and the fact that he's just a shitty human being. And it's also true that he holds most of his MAGA base in contempt and wouldn't be caught dead actually living in or staying for very long in the places where most of his supporters reside. But I do think our "legitimate" news media is rapidly being bought out by right-wingers like Bezos and Musk and is being pushed to the right.

This is the core of our disagreement, I suspect. Trump is a mentally addled narcissist with a narrow information diet. I highly doubt he believes any of the negativity, at this point. Polls, protests, stories, etc. painting him with negativity are truly “fake” in his clearly diminished state.

He is probably largely unaware of it. Which would explain him ripping FoxNews every time they aren’t outwardly fellating him.
