“At this point there is no definitive link between the attack here in New Orleans and the one in Las Vegas,” Federal Bureau of Investigation deputy assistant director Christopher Raia told a news conference on Thursday.

… investigators haven’t found any evidence at this time showing that ISIS directed the [NOLA] attack, according to a US official who asked not to be identified speaking about details of the investigation….”

I'm not a conspiracy nut hoping to throw crazy theories on the absolute loosest of coincidences but he blew a vehicle up in front of a trump hotel and there there were a few people standing pretty darn close. I have to think there's little doubt it was an attack meant to send some sort of message there.

As to what the message is, I'm sure everyone's going to speculate but who knows what some wackadoodle is thinking. Some sort of a note or some comments to other people, I don't think anyone's going to know for sure.

I wonder how many mass casualty attacks are ultimately suicides where the person decides to try to take a number of others with them when they go?

I don't have any evidence to base this on, but a lot of smaller mass shootings and other events like this one feel more like a very public suicide than an attempt to harm the public for any type of ideological reason.
 
Kind of fascinating and mundane at the same time. A reporter went to this dude's house and apparently the FBI had knocked the door in so she just walked in and took a tour. Nothing too crazy but sort of interesting.

The FBI gave the NY Post access to the perpetrator's home this soon after the crime? Seriously?!

Doesn't anyone else find this incredibly strange ... or unbelievable ? It's a very significant crime scene of domestic terrorism, and they gave these NY Post nitwits access to the crime scene, just a day after the event?!

It's mind boggling. I would think everything in the home would be potential evidence.

My guess is the FBI knocked in the door and didn't secure it, or more likely, they asked/paid the landlord to let them in. Still weird its not secured but maybe they got everything they needed?

Received a few small updates from my buddy and his wife who owned the airbnb where the New Orleans attacker stayed. The house caught fire and received significant smoke and water damage. They're going to have to gut the interior and rebuild/refurnish. They had an exhausting day and say they've been working with the federal investigators. My buddy says he's going to update me in more detail today. Will pass along anything interesting.

I'm sorry for what you, your friend, and your city are going through. My first visit to the Crescent City was for New Years this year. A fascinating, colorful city with many wonderful people. My best to you and yours.
