i agree with you fwiw just don't think banchero is a great comparison as he's a very good NBA player. boozer seems like he's kind of at his ceiling already and even though he's got a big, well developed body he's not an elite run and jump guy. a lot of his game seems dependent on his bulk and strength and that's not gonna work as well at the next level with bigger, stronger dudes everywhere.

as far as dookies go he kinda reminds me of a taller jabari parker. big, thick boy with a lot of skills but doesn't have elite athleticism.

Maybe the Jabari Parker comparison is more apt.

I don’t mean to imply that Banchero is a total bust or anything and I know his numbers have been better recently, but overall I feel like he’s been fairly underwhelming and inefficient by the standards of a first overall pick. Honestly though I don’t follow the NBA super closely so that could just be an indictment of his overall situation with the Magic and his fit with their roster/coaching staff.

Are you saying that this will go down as a great Carolina win in the Carolina-dook rivalry or are you saying it will be considered one of the 4 best games, from the Carolina perspective, in the Carolina-dook rivalry?

Because I'd say this likely outside the top 4 games for most Carolina fans, but it's very likely top 10 to top 15 for nearly all Carolina fans.
 
This game is the perfect counter to the Austin Rivers shot and the 2020 choke. Obviously not as important as the 2022 games or other wins against them where the stakes were higher (ACCT, direct regular season title implications, etc.), but it’ll be an iconic moment for the highlight reels during the pregame promos.
 
As an aside, I love that the broadcast took some time to show Antawn Jamison in the stands. He should always have one of the best seats in the house for the Duke-Carolina game. Not only is he one of the greatest Heels of all time, he was also an absolute Duke killer. Some of his best college performances were vs. Duke.

Yeah, that call plus review is a simple summary of why the entire challenge system in CBB is absolutely terrible.

I think there can be zero doubt that 2022 UNC upset of dook in the Final Four is absolutely the pinnacle at this point.

But I think that review was a pyrrhic victory for dook. The refs had to reverse the call but they also saw the fouls they missed. I think that led to tighter calls the rest of the half and the resulting foul trouble on dook’s bigs was key.

I think the FF win and K’s last games win balance the scales where it had gotten lopsided in agonizing defeats. Last night was another finger on the scale.

Give them some slack here. They’re just in shock at having participated in a game where the refs didn’t carry their jockstraps for them. Must be the first time in 40 years all the calls didn’t go their way. Probably an aberration, but new territory for them for sure.

That's a nice way of looking at it. dook definitely did not get the benefit of the calls last night that they traditionally get in their games.
