“The early defensive strategy, they were trying to protect the frontcourt from fouls, and they probably thought after the second half foul tally in Chapel Hill, the officials might be trying to subconsciously or consciously even that up. And so they said ‘you’ve got these lesser guys, let’s see if they can beat us.’ It wasn’t a great strategy, but they just don’t have the personnel.
“The thing to keep in mind, Duke was without two guys, and you wouldn’t have known because they have such an army of talent. Even guys who don’t play that much for them can come in and they can easily compete with the Carolina guys. What stood out to me in this game, other than the things that we’ve discussed, is how much the backcourt especially, and wings, need an upgrade. The Heels going into portal season here very soon have got to make it happen with that type of talent, because you can’t get a Caleb Wilson every year. And, even if you do have one, there’s a pretty big gap between the two teams right now and it’s UNC’s job to close it.”
