Biorhythms for UNC v Syracuse: Post Game Discussion

Thank you for this post.

This video has been a good education for an old codger like me.

Until now I never realized that wins and losses don't matter. It is all about how you perform possession to possession in the games you play and metrics.

So whether we beat dook** this Saturday doesn't matter because it is just a win. It is how we beat dook** that matters ?

So if we blow a 32 point lead against dook** and win in triple overtime, does that help or hurt our metrics ? Would it be better to play a close game throughout but lose to dook** by 3 points ?

I'm just trying to get up to speed on whether me treasuring each victory and paying attention to our record is no way to think about college basketball.

Some of these metrics = paralysis by analysis.

It really depends on the possessions/outcomes on whether it would help or hurt.

It depends on what you care about. If you care only about W-L then focus on that. If you only care about metrics then focus on that. If you care about "measuring" the performance of a team then you'll need to factor in both, imo.

5-4 close, seems about right. Lose to duke twice, and 2 of At state, at miami, vs clemson and vs louisville
Also, we should keep in mind, to date, our ACC schedule has been pretty "easy"
FSU (T12)
SMU (9)
Stanford (T12)
Cal (10)
ND (T15)
UVA (T3)
GT (T15)
Cuse (11)
Outside of UVA, all of our other games have been against the bottom half.

Interesting chart. First part of the second half really stands out. Those people who say HD can't make adjustments at halftime should probably check that out (CF, I'm talking to you).
Was CF saying that HD/staff can't make adjustments at halftime, or that they can't in real-time, or that they can't at the start (i.e., prepare them for the game)? I agree that we usually play a lot better to start the 2nd half.

More in-game adjustments and having a gameplan going into the game based on the individual opponent. It's more about overall consistency and not having collapses like last night, or stretches where they are up and then can't score.
