Worse thing for me was not eating, I finally drink some clear chicken broth, that helped. I had to take a laxative at 4pm the day before and that immediately went to work. I then had to drink the nasty stuff at 6pm and again at 10pm. I was up until midnight when it finally slowed down. I slept on a towel in case of an accident. Went a few times the next morning and the procedure was at 8am. That was a breeze.
Same here. I'm not typically a broth person, but I ate some bone broth, and that definitely helped. My procedure was at 2:00 PM, so that made for a long time not eating anything. But, it helped with getting a full night's sleep.

Did my first one about a year ago.

I’m the biggest baby ever when it comes to medical stuff, and it truly wasn’t bad. I started the prep about 6 hours earlier than the recommended time because I wanted to actually sleep the night before. The stuff I was prescribed wasn’t pleasant but also wasn’t torture to get down either.

Procedure itself was a breeze. Once they knocked me out, it felt like no time before I was awake. One small polyp they removed/biopsied and all was good. I slept most of the afternoon at home and actually had Mexican food that evening…stuck to mild seasoning though.

I'm getting a root canal tomorrow, as it happens. Just got back from the dentist.

Tomorrow is my birthday. Oh well.
Oh nooooo so sorry to hear that. I know that's no fun. Hope it's uneventful and you feel better afterward quickly!

On my first, they rolled me into a room and had music playing in the background - I guess for comfort. The song that was playing was John Mellencamp's Hurt So Good. I told them I thought that was inappropriate and then they laughed and knocked me out. 😏

My sister’s husband passed earlier this year from colon cancer that also spread from his colon to his liver. UNC graduate, fwiw.
As uncomfortable as a colonoscopy can be, it doesn’t compare to cancer.
Get your colonoscopy.
This. My dad died at 53 of colon cancer that metastasized to his liver and eventually all over. Horrible way to go.

I'm relatively young but I had my first colonoscopy last year. Honestly wasn't that bad. I think all those years of cutting weight for wrestling made the prep a breeze for the most part. It helps that I love jello and could eat as much of that as I wanted. Also got pho broth instead of plain chicken broth so that was nice too.

I didn't get it for this purpose, but as colorectal cancer keeps trending younger and younger, it's actually somewhat comforting to have that checked out as well. I knew a guy who died at 39 or so from CRC so it's always sort of been in the back of my head
