Portugal? Slovenia?
Too far from fam, different timezone, I know zero Portuguese or slav :-)

It was all just empty threats anyway. If you haven't fled the US by now then you are just waiting for actual persecution or civil war.

I definitely want visit both the above for vacation. Heck, Mexico City too.

My parents are 86. When they die, I’m an ex-pat.

Portugal. Maybe a Balkan country. Likely Portugal.
I’ve been considering Portugal or Spain since Trump 1.0.

Portugal is exceptionally easy to get around in if you don’t know the language.

I know just enough Spanish to get by for a couple months, after which I’d need lessons.

I’ve never been to Portugal, but I know people who have. They speak very highly of it. Also, it’s kinda of out of the way. There are a lot more countries Trump would fuck with before Portugal. Would at least buy a few years.

I’m in Portugal now. I’ve been traveling around the country for two weeks. It’s relatively inexpensive, the food is great, but there is a lot of poverty. I think I might prefer Australia.

President Trump on Saturday initiated an investigation into whether imports of lumber threaten America’s national security, a step that is likely to further inflame relations with Canada, the largest exporter of wood to the United States.

The president directed his commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, to carry out the investigation. The results of the inquiry could allow the president to apply tariffs to lumber imports. A White House official declined to say how long the inquiry would take.

An executive memorandum signed by Mr. Trump ordered the investigation and was accompanied by another document that White House officials said would expand the volume of lumber offered for sale each year, increasing supply and helping to ensure that timber prices do not rise.

The trade inquiry is likely to further anger Canada. Some of its citizens have called for boycotts of American products over Mr. Trump’s plans to impose tariffs on all Canadian imports beginning on Tuesday. The president, who also plans to hit Mexico with similar tariffs, says the levies are punishment for failure to stem the flow of drugs and migrants into the United States.
We definitely need homes to be more expensive. Great job, dipshits.

I would avoid any country on Putin's todo invasion list.
Hell, I’m over $3k and several dozen hours into the Canadian process and I’m thinking that’s effectively the value of used Kleenex, given the ideas Putin has planted in don’s addled mind.

Spain would be on my list. I have a small kid, with Education being important Estonia popped onto my radar too in the matrix of important things.
An ex-gf taught English in Estonia for a little while. She did not like it at all. Said the Estonians were not at all welcoming and they have that reputation across Europe. She moved to Vietnam to teach there and liked it much better.
