Charlie Kirk shot and killed at Utah rally.

That is true and unfortunate, and why so many people are ignorant of facts and context.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people make bold assertions about things they don’t know or understand without acknowledging their lack of knowledge or understanding.
Ignorance and arrogance is a dangerous combination.

Sure - it's safe. Everything is OK. It's an anonymous message board. Who cares what you post?
I’m not the only poster now to distinguish *assigning* motive with virtually zero info about the shooter (something I called out “ramrouser” for several pages back) vs. *speculating* about motive based on the information and context we know, including the public figure who was targeted and the type of event it was. A distinction you seem to have missed.

In a forum like this, with little reach and where nobody is trying to go viral and propagate b.s. with the intention of influencing some wider audience, there’s nothing irresponsible about openly trying to understand motive without having any info.

Now, if you’re on cnn or fox news and you’re openly conjecturing about (or especially *assigning*) motive without any real info… we all know there’s a stark difference in terms of audience reach, and in the agenda to influence that audience. That would be reckless and irresponsible. And yes, there is a very clear difference — genuine discussion (the whole purpose of this forum) vs. shaping national discourse and framing the event to maximize political advantage.

How many people were fired from the FBI during the DOGE bullshit earlier this year which is contributing to this? A high profile suspect still at large? It’s a valid question, I think.
I know the top counter-terrorism expert was canned and no one has come up for a reason besides that the expert was a woman of Pakistani descent.

He got canned for verbalizing what everyone is thinking. However, perhaps he wasn’t wrong. But I guess you just can’t say that on cable TV. It was just said “too soon” after the event. I’ll bet if someone were to make the exact speculation 3 months or 3 years from now, no one would bat an eye.

And make no mistake. There are plenty of other “contributors” on Fox News who should be axed as well for their commentary on numerous occasions.
No. He got canned for the absolutely absurd suggestion that it could’ve been a celebratory shot by a supporter that inadvertently hit Kirk. The rest of what he said just added more justification for the firing. But the initial comment is an embarrassment. He should be fired for that, and was.

Yes there are plenty of equally idiotic fox news personalities who have said things even more ludicrous than this. They should also be fired. The fact that this guy was fired while those others aren’t is meant demonstrate at least some semblance of journalistic integrity.

Have a hunch the Trump neutering of the FBI is going to become the story on this. I believe the local FBI Agent in charge (of that area) was canned a few weeks back. Not to mention many experienced FBI agents were transferred from domestic terrorism to the immigration problem.

Never Trumpers are the WORST human beings. Hope Conway’s next or Nicole Wallace.
Such a laughably ridiculous comment.

People who are conservative yet who don’t like Donald Trump are worse than murderers? Rapists? Authoritarian dictators who commit genocide? People who kill lawmakers over political differences? People who murder young husbands and fathers over political differences? That’s your assertion? That its “Never Trumpers” who are the “WORST human beings”? Of all of the stupid views you’ve ever expressed here- and God knows they’ve been incalculably numerous- this one might be the weirdest.

Having followed the post to the prior thread, I think the context of Hoping that Conway or Wallace are “next” is referencing getting fired like Dowd, not getting shot. Just for folks who might misconstrue the post (as I did until I clicked back to the post Ram was quoting).

Obviously Ram can defend himself on this point, but I just point it out more as an example of how we could all take a cleansing breath today and not assume the worst about every post or poster.
