We have two first round picks. One has not improved at all. The other is worse since Hubert started coaching him. We have the reigning ACC player of the year. Trimble was ranked 30 or so in his class. Cadeau was top point guard in his class. And Washington, Withers, Lubin might not be an all-star front court but 2/3 of the ACC would love to have them. There is one common denominator for why all these guys SUCK this year. And it's not that they don't have talent. It's our feckless Ned fucking Flanders of a head coach and he needs to go NOW. Not the end of the season. Not after one more season. RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

As if we have a defense either. Teams shooting 50%+ from 3 against us and some people on here like the other team couldn't miss! They couldn't miss because their own team plays better defense against them in warmups. Out of those 20+ 3s they took tonight how many were contested AT ALL? Maybe 3??

Brilliant move going to the press down 26 though.

Agreed. Calling this an offense is being incredibly generous.
We have an offense that generates open shots. The problem is that the guys we typically have in those open spots aren't able to knock down those shots on a consistent basis. And then we never change the offense to put the players we have in different spots that better match their abilities nor do we have other guys who can hit those shots to put in the open spots.

We also do poorly when the first option breaks down, but that's a different issue.

That's not coaching for the team you have, but coaching for the one you wish you had. Depends too much on players creating shots 1 on 1 off the dribble and no movement without the ball to get players open for easier shots.

Generating open threes is easy to do. But you do it when you have good shooters, something we don’t have.

Saying that the players aren’t good enough is blaming the players. And, this team has jimmys and joes.
I stand corrected. You’re right. I can’t say it that way. I guess my point is: I think the players are doing the best they can, and are playing as hard as they can - at least it appeared that way to start the game, but they simply run out of gas and are not as talented as we had hoped. I don’t mean to say “they suck” or that I don’t like the fact that they are Tar Heels. I think they’re fine individuals and they comport themselves well on and off the court. But, they’re just not quite good enough to win many more games than they lose. We lack height and a team leader on the floor. We had those things last season and won 29 games. Some of those same players are on this year’s team - but we obviously sorely miss Bacot, Ingram and Ryan. Those 3 are the Jimmys and Joes we don’t have.
We are missing some key pieces. That’s what I mean, and misspoke by framing it any other way. I stand corrected.

Last game Jamison was there "scouting" . Last night Kupchak was there. My "opinion" is this is a coordinated effort to "scout our needs for the portal" from 2 Pro GM/player personal guys. Maybe this will help the eventual GM to get out to a quick start on assembling portal talent
