Yeah, but how many players would participate?
Bowl opt-outs are going to have to be addressed through player payments from revenue sharing/NIL or even NIL connected to bowl games.

Until players get money for playing or lose money for not playing, nothing is going to change.

Does anyone watch the bowl games?

I used to love bowl season. Then they exploded and every 6 win team got to go bowling, then players started opting out... and now the games just suck. Just look at Duke's bowl game. Down to their third string QB due to transfers. Will the result of that game (an Ole Miss beat down) be an accurate representation of Duke's season? No. And that's just one game. Not to beat a dead horse, but everyone loves to pile on FSU... the FSU who took the field against Georgia is not the FSU who went unbeaten last year.

As the Tenn/tOSU game went to commercial, you could hear an "S-E-C" chant going...as Tennessee trails Ohio State 28-10 in the 3rd quarter.

Every single game has been a blowout so far.
I wasn't surprised that all of the first 3 were decisive wins, in all 3 I thought one team was significantly better than the other (and those teams all won).

But I'm surprised that this tOSU/Tenn game is a blowout. I thought it was the one that would be close.

I know it's small comfort after our bowl game, but at least State lost their bowl game today to ECU in embarrassing fashion, and State players started yet another brawl at the end of the game. And CrackRide already has a multipage "Fire Dave Doeren" thread going, in which posters amusingly keep saying they can't understand why he still has a job, while they ignore the simple fact that he still has a job because he's beaten UNC regularly over the past several years - their Superbowl. Hopefully Belicheck will start changing that next year, after which Doeren's job security will no doubt plummet accordingly.

I wouldn't be surprised if Doeren is gone after next year if he loses to Belichick unless they have an otherwise great season.

And there's pretty much no way he survives once he loses a second game to Belichick unless it's somehow years down the road.

+1. In that "Fire Dave" CrackRide thread they keep comparing his record to Tom O'Brien's and wondering why Dave hasn't already been fired, when the obvious difference is that Tom was fired after he lost to UNC on that dramatic kickoff return for a TD (Gio!). As you said, if Dave starts losing to Belicheck he'll be fired before he can even make his way back to the locker room. I'll give him credit for this - he's known all along that his job security at State depends on beating UNC regularly and then gloating and bragging about it for their fanbase, and so he's made sure to win his game with us most of the time, and that's why he's still there as head coach. If that goes away he'll be gone too in no time.

Small comfort indeed, but misery does love company!
