UF was ranked and just crushed #9 Texas today.
ND was ranked in the top 10 and looks like a solid top-20 team at a minimum.
USF was ranked and looks to be the top team in their conference and a strong contender for a playoff spot.

UM beat them all, and just beat #18 FSU. Shoulda been worse.

Any thoughts at this point? What ACC team do you see tripping them up?
Miami is fully capable of losing any of its remaining ACC games (well, maybe not Stanford, but then look at UCLA today). They will be a heavy favorite in almost every remaining game. But it is asking a lot of Miami kids to stay focused 12 weekends in a row.

Sure. Same can be said of any team in CFB on any weekend.

My point is that UM looks damn good, and not a fraudulent team. They’re stout on both O and D line, and have a top-notch running game, good WRs, a good QB, a good kicker.

They don’t have a significant area of weakness.

That’s not to say they won’t lose focus somewhere along the way, and Cristobal’s penchant for dropping a game to an inferior opponent will remain a concern until he disproves it.

Yet in the last 20 years, this is the most complete team I’ve seen UM put together.

No doubt about that. Miami is a complete team and has been challenged by good teams more than any other top ranked team this year. It would be a real upset for Miami to miss the playoffs.

"Crushed?"

It was a one-score game with around 5 min left in the third. UF definitely looked better, but "crushed" them is not how I'd describe it.
And it was a 3-score game at half.

Granted, “crushed” is a subjective term, but Texas never led and was never less than 7 down. Given the yardage and TOP difference, it was a pretty thorough beating.

It was never a 3-score game. UT had the ball with around 90 seconds left to drive and tie the game. But, as I said, UF was clearly the better team today.

I'd say Clemson crushed UNC today, but, as you say, it's a subjective term.

My bad. You’re right. It was a 15 pt lead twice during the 3rd quarter. Not quite a 3 score game.

None the less, Texas never really threatened. Call it what you want.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider threatening, if down by one score, with the ball, and 90 seconds left isn’t?

I would say advancing the ball to beyond where a Hail Mary and a 2pt conversion just to tie the game would suffice.

Again, UT never led—nor were they in any serious position to lead the game. This wasn’t close. It wasn’t a back-and-forth battle. UF led decisively throughout.

Fwiw, Arch Manning had 37 yds rushing. The rest of the offense had 15 yds.

UF’s D line dominated.

In case I am unclear, my view hasn't changed a lot. Miami is clearly the best team in the ACC. That alone doesnt mean much at all because the ACC is horrible. Miami will have a chance to prove something in the playoffs. They have done well against the schedule in front of them. No doubt about that.

You were quite clear that you didn’t think UM would be among the top 1/3rd of the SEC and wouldn’t win a game in the playoffs.

I’m just curious if that opinion has changed at all, given recent events.

Thanks.

Yes, UF definitely looked like the better team. That’s something we both have agreed on.
