The U of South Florida/U of North Texas game this evening was wild.

To start the 2nd half, a combined 5 TDs were scored on the first 7 minutes.

USF pulled away and ended up winning by 27.

You were quite clear that you didn’t think UM would be among the top 1/3rd of the SEC and wouldn’t win a game in the playoffs.

I’m just curious if that opinion has changed at all, given recent events.
It has not. I do not think Miami will win a game in the playoff.

#24 USF just beat the top team in their conference by 27 points and is on track to be a playoff team.

We’ll see how UF fares against TAMU and ND fares against the woofies.

At this point in time, no team has won more games against ranked opponents. So I’m genuinely curious how long you’ll maintain your position.

As long as Miami is in the ACC. My opinion is not of Miami individually but of the league as a whole. I do not believe in any ACC team. Ever.

Perhaps you should try to separate league history from current football .

FSU and Miami were both marquee teams before they joined the league. And that was the point of the ACC pursuing both of them.

FSU lived up to its reputation off-and-on over the last couple decades. UM had decidedly not lived up to any expectations/reputation.

So it’s natural to have doubts about UM,

However, I challenge you to name 4-5 teams that’ll beat UM based on games played so far this season

Until an ACC team is remotely relevant in the national championship in the NIL era, I will stick with my feels about the league. The league is garbage that makes decent ACC teams look far better than they are in actuality. ACC teams are not battle tested when they hit the postseason in thr same manner as SEC and BIG teams and they falter because of it.

Again, you’re ignoring current on-field play and relying on your feels and past performance.

Strange, given that FSU and Clemson have both done quite well in the postseason over the years. But you do you.

What have FSU and Clemson done in the NIL era?

And your fascination with me endorsing Miami speaks more to your own need to validate them than it does to their actual ability.

Travis' point is that the ACC has been bad in the NIL era, which is true.

But the NIL era is only four years old, and FSU was actually good three years ago (beat LSU twice) but lost its QB at the end of the season and that destroyed them.

I don't think 3-4 years of NIL data is a big enough sample size. Miami has an excellent football recruiting footprint and history and there is no magic ACC pixie dust that forces Miami to be bad.

Meh, it speaks more to your prejudices and inability to gauge talent than anything else. And that’s my main point. You allow your disdain for UM and your distrust of the ACC to cloud your judgement, instead of actually looking at on-the-field performance. And that’s odd to me.

Why do you think i have a disdain for UM? I have no opinion of Miami either positive or negative. I dont feel any more strongly about Miami than I do Syracuse or Boston College or Stanford or Cal. They are teams in the ACC to me. Nothing more or less. I have disdain for NC State and for Duke to a lesser extent. Pretty much everyone else in the league is a "who cares" event for me. I have disdain for the ACC as currently composed because it is a league devoid of meaningful matchups and fun games.

Im a Michigan season ticket holder and routinely on this board they get drug by other posters. Ive never once taken umbrage or protested. As a fan of a team, I dont care what other folks who aren't fans think of them.

By the way, I think Miami would beat Michigan this season if that makes you feel better.

In fairness, you might be letting your biases in favor of Miami cloud your judgment.

The Canes have certainly looked the part for the first half of the season. But I'm not going to dog anyone who is skeptical of the Canes as an elite team, given how many times in the last 20 years we've been told the "U is back" half way through the season when the U most definitely was not back.

I’m looking at on-the-field performance this season. That’s it.

I’ve already acknowledged that UM has performed poorly over the last 2 decades. But if the NIL era has taught us anything at this point, it’s that past performance is not indicative of current success or failure.

I’ve also acknowledged Cristobal’s penchant for dropping a game that he should win. And that’s still a concern until he can prove otherwise.

Still, at this point in time, UM looks like a championship contender, and has faced the toughest schedule in CFB.

Yes all true. Let just hope that Cristobol isn’t forced to make a decision as to when to go into victory formation.

Agreed.

My beef with wmheel is his contention that UM wouldn’t be in the top third of SEC teams. That smacks of hater mentality and ignores the product on the field.

Another somewhat close loss by FSU. I realize the ACC will be nothing soon, but I thought their beating of BAMA in the opener and Miami's potential rise might mean an interesting yr for the ACC. GT finally has a great yr while FSU and Clemson crap out.
