If you and I are going to converse in good faith then you need to cut the bs lawyer act. I have tried to answer you in good faith. It's kind of hard to cram 1500 pages of spending into 115 pages so I'm relying on common sense and the fact that much of what was objected to wouldn't still be there if it was passed. Hoping you can be objective enough to give credit where credit is due and not be so partisan that all judgement is out the window. I'm not claiming that now but in light of how the events have unfolded and the damning comments made by johnson, I still don't understand how you see this as a bad thing.
he is an attorney. what is the bs lawyer act?

here's an idea. instead of telling others to be worse, why dont you raise your game?

you cant say there were cuts to spending relative to a proposed bill. that makes no sense. it is not a win any form.

cutting spending to make room for huge rich people tax cuts is not a win for anyone except the ultrarich

Some of the pork cut is childhood cancer research funding

Political malpractice. Can’t figure out how this got started - who thought this would work? Why burn political capital like this?

This ain’t looking good for your team, calla. Just a huge embarrassment politically for no fiscal benefit, and most of the things that were cut are overwhelmingly popular among both Dems and Pubs. This disaster will probably be forgotten after the many other disasters to come, but we can mark it down as major unforced error #1 for Trump/Musk 2.0.

The last time there was a balanced budget congress was controlled by pubs. They forced bill to play ball.
That doesn't seem to apply to trump and elon has enough that he good. But getting rich does apply to some presidents.
All presidents pretty much gain wealth after being president.

It's interesting that's the first I've read that trump lost money, amazing for such a great business man.

Of course one has to ask where the money went, or if he was truly worth $5B when he went into office, there were questions about his actual worth. What did his tax records show? I forget, did we ever get to see them? Wait, we did? Didn't we. They showed that he had billions in losses to report and didn't really pay the taxes he should have, didn't they? Or am I mis-remembering?

But I've read so many other articles about the amount of money that trump made, you know by forcing government planes and members to use trump properties at a greater cost than the properties they would have normally used. Now, I know that AOL has to be a standard in reporting, but I've found a few other articles about trump that really don't align.

I'm sure you are perfectly ok with all of these. You being against pork and government overspend, I'm sure you want the government to get the most from their travel budget. If you want to read more it was an easy google search. It's amazing how many hits one gets when they google "Trump" & "Crook".

So, how do you want a lawyer to talk to you?

It's good that they got something done, instead of listening to President Musk and shutting down the government for a mere 33 days.

Had to fix that last line for you.

Decades ago, a brilliant scientist named Eric Schopler founded Division TEACCH in 1972 and helped lead it at UNC…….it revolutionized treatment for autistic and mentally retarded (sorry, I don’t know how to refer to the unfortunate young kids who were/are mentally retarded that my mother worked with in Division TEACCH).

We are not talking about “mentally challenged” or whatever. These kids were both autistic and with IQ’s below 80…..70……

One of the ways in which Eric Schopler at Division TEACCH helped revolutionize treatment in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s was that he taught the parents to return home and lobby and demand for education, treatment, programs, and support for their children.

Eric told the parents, “I can lobby with facts and whatever; you have CHILDREN.”

He taught the parents to lobby and they won local, state, and federal funding for their children.

Bring forth the children. Day after day.

Musk tanked the bill due to the restrictions on investing in China which would have interfered with Tesla plans to build factories there. Nothing more. Total win for Leon as the passed bill stripped that restriction out. Musk's personal financial interests is all that was served in this fiasco.

“…
Gone is Trump’s demand to lift the debt ceiling, which GOP leaders told lawmakers would be debated as part of their tax and border packages in the new year. Republicans made a so-called handshake agreement to raise the debt limit at that time while also cutting $2.5 trillion in spending over 10 years.

It’s essentially the same deal that flopped the night before in a spectacular setback — opposed by most Democrats and some of the most conservative Republicans — minus Trump’s debt ceiling demand.

… In the Senate, almost all the opposition came from the Republicans — except independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, who said Musk’s interference was “not democracy, that’s oligarchy.”

Trump, who has not yet been sworn into office, is showing the power but also the limits of his sway with Congress, as he intervenes and orchestrates affairs from Mar-a-Lago alongside Musk …”
