I know you are math challenged, but maybe you should throw a couple of numbers down on a page to test whether that's even possible.

There were 500-1000 people there, IIRC. Let's say 500. So if the SPLC is paying them $5K and covering travel/lodging expenses (say another 2K), that would be $7K per person times 500 people equals $3.5M, on top of which you'd need to add administration of these undercover agents.

$4-5M for a day's event is pretty damn expensive. It's also impossible for a charitable organization like SPLC to pull off, given that their books are open to regulators.

Charitable organizations usually present donors with annual reports listing their accomplishments. I guess donors, like all other people in this world, are much stupider than Zen and don't know how to do things like notice a gap between the massive million dollar budgets and the meager accomplishments.
 
They’re desperately trying to make this a story because they need to change the mid-term election momentum. They know they’re facing a blowout, hence the coordinated media attack to gin up base outrage.

Nope. I'm not making a cover-all statement. I'm pointing out what SPLC appears to be doing. Is it intentional? I don't know, but it's difficult to think it's not intentional when they are putting people ON THEIR PAYROLL on their website to raise money which is then used to continue funding the people on their payroll as examples of extremist/racists, etc.

A viable candidate should have primaried her this time around. She will undoubtably win re-election, there has never been anything notably objectionable about her, and she votes as her constituents who elected her would want, but she is 80-years-old and about as anonymous as someone in Congress can be.

Why do you insist on carrying water for the right-wing loonies? I get that some people might feel a sense of nobility in staying on the centerline, but that just doesn't vibe when one side has gone completely rogue and is outwardly trampling on the Constitution for the sake of destroying our democracy. Playing the role of devil's advocate for MAGA doesn't make you a champion for the nonpartisan; it makes you a feckless weenie.

Appears to be doing according to whom? Even the indictment doesn't allege that.

The most detailed allegation was that the SPLC paid a guy to remove some of the hate group's documents, copied them, and then put them back. Does that sound like they are creating the racism? I guess they probably forged all those documents too, and then to cover that up, they had the guy secretly plant the documents, then remove them without anyone finding out, then put them back and nobody knew anything. Then the SPLC published the documents. It did all that instead of just publishing lies because it's just so much more fun!!!!!11!!1

Have you perhaps considered that the SPLC putting the informants on their website as examples of extremists may make it less likely that the informants' colleagues would think they are on the SPLC's payroll and thus make them more likely to be trusted/embraced by the people they were spying on?

I'm assuming the indictment is concerned with only legalities. Shady things aren't necessarily illegal. I don't know if paying people to work against your own cause is illegal.

One former chairman of the National Alliance was paid $140,000 from SPLC between 2016 and 2023 while being featured as part of the nonprofit’s “Extremist Files,” the indictment claims.

The page lists William Pierce as the founder and chairman of the group until his death in 2002. Erich Gliebe and Shaun Walker were subsequent chairmen.

A former director of the Aryan Nations who also was a member of the Ku Klux Klan was also featured in the SPLC’s “Extremist Files” — despite getting paid $70,000 between 2014 and 2016, the court docs claim.

You know, those people all joined the groups before the SPLC paid them. The SPLC did not plant them. They offered them $$ to tell secrets.

As someone else asked you, do you know what an informant is? Here's a question for you to start. Law enforcement runs many informants. Are those informants criminals? Next question: how do they become informants? Third question: when law enforcement uses informants, do you say that law enforcement is creating crime?

Or here's another question for you. Israel recently executed an operation where they apparently got Hezbollah leaders on a zoom call and then bombed this. This follows last year's coup where they sabotaged all those pagers. How do you think they did that? Was Israel also doing shady stuff? Were they creating terrorism in order to profit from it?
