Her Nobel medal didn’t do the trick, so now Machado is sweetening her bid to be installed leader of Venezuela with a (ludicrous) promise of self-deportations by Venezuelan immigrants in the United States.

Because Section 111 is not a well written law and it doesn't protect federal officers the way equivalent impeding justice laws do in the states. Among other things, Section 111 pretty clearly requires "forceful" interference, something that is generally not happening in Minnesota or elsewhere (although there is an ICE taillight that may have a thing or two to say about Alex Pretti).

DHS officers appear to think anything that makes the work harder is a 111 violation, and it plainly is not. But no one has ever accused DHS or its minions of caring what the law actually says.

Further proving what Trump has made clear - for some reason a large chunk of the American public is perfectly fine with rampant corruption as long as it's done out in the open.
