Rufo is a flat-out white supremacist and homophobe, but he's far more clever and social media savvy than many of his MAGA contemporaries. He's very aggressive in going after anyone who criticizes him on social media and he doesn't hesitate to threaten lawsuits unless people or news media sites criticizing him publicly apologize, and he then uses their apologies to claim he's been vindicated even when that's not really the case and to brag that he's owning the libs.

He's the devil as far as education is concerned. He's been one of the MAGA leaders in attacking public and higher ed. Ron DeSantis appointed him to the Board of Trustees at the once-progressive New College in Florida, where Rufo was the ringleader in firing or driving out most of the faculty and staff and moving the college sharply to the right on the model of right-wing Hillsdale College in Michigan. When students - and the New College had a large number of LGBTQ students - protested all of the changes, Rufo made a point of going out and confronting them and taunting and mocking them and generally behaving like a total dick. He's among the lowest of the low in my opinion.

Not surprisingly, most of the comments and replies to his remarks are supportive - "everybody talked like this 20 or 30 years ago, I miss it", "bro is just telling the truth", "Liberals are fine with Olympic athletes talking shit about Trump and America, but talking shit about gays and trans f***ots is too much. I thought they stood for freedom of speech", and on an on. Twitter ("X") is a cesspool.
