I mean, what they did pretty comfortably fits within most people’s broad understanding of terrorist activity.

Whether it was just disorganized lefty protesting meet-up gone terribly wrong when a few participants went full terrorist or was somehow tied to some nebulous Antifa movement is a different question.

There is no way that case should have been allowed to go to trial. It's basically a conspiracy charge without any overt act requirement, or even any common plan requirement. At least from what I can glean from this reporting. The description of the facts is light on detail.

What this says is that the government can charge and convict you for mere proximity to an illegal activity.
