While there, Judge Boasberg attempted to improperly influence Chief Justice Roberts and roughly two dozen other federal judges by straying from the traditional topics to express his belief that the Trump Administration would "disregard rulings of federal courts" and trigger "a constitutional crisis." Although his comments would be inappropriate even if they had some basis, they were even worse because Judge Boasberg had no basis—the Trump Administration has always complied with all court orders. Nor did Judge Boasberg identify any purported violations of court orders to justify his unprecedented predictions."

"Within days of those statements, Judge Boasberg began acting on his preconceived belief that the Trump Administration would not follow court orders. First, although he lacked authority to do so, he issued a temporary restraining order preventing the Government from removing violent Tren de Aragua terrorists, which the Supreme Court summarily vacated.

"Taken together, Judge Boasberg’s words and deeds violate Canons of the Code of Conduct for United States Judges, and, erode public confidence in judicial neutrality, and warrant a formal investigation."

The DOJ is asking Chief Judge Srinivasan to refer the complaint to a special investigative committee as an inquiry is essential to determine whether Judge Boasberg’s conduct constitutes "conduct prejudicial to the effective and expeditious administration of the business of the courts." The complaint also asks that Judge Boasberg be taken off the case involving Venezuelan migrants who were deported to El Salvador, "to prevent further erosion of public confidence while the investigation proceeds."…”

“… Boasberg’s remarks at the conference came after weeks of Trump allies inside and outside the administration suggesting judges who rule against the president should be impeached and disfavored court orders should be ignored. Judges at every level — including justices of the Supreme Court — have raised the specter of defiance by the administration and urged officials to respect court orders regardless of which court or judge issues them.

Federal judges are ordinarily barred from making out-of-court public comments about pending or impending matters. It’s unclear whether Boasberg’s remarks at the judges’ meeting qualify and whether he was speaking about any case he knew to be pending or imminent. The complaint also makes more general claims that his statements undermined “public confidence in the integrity of the judiciary.”

Mizelle also filed a complaint earlier this year against Washington-based U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes for her sharp-elbowed comments about the Justice Department’s arguments in a lawsuit seeking to block Trump’s transgender military ban.

In March, the Justice Department asked the D.C. Circuit to remove Boasberg from the deportation case and reassign it to another judge, an extraordinary step. The appeals court never acted on that request but has paused his orders related to potential contempt proceedings. After Boasberg’s March ruling, Trump called for the judge’s impeachment, labeling him a “troublemaker and agitator.”

The new complaint again asks for Boasberg’s removal from the deportation case and for him to be reprimanded publicly. It also raises the prospect of his fellow judges calling for his impeachment over the remarks.…”

Police seek Tommy Robinson after alleged assault at London station

Police investigating an alleged assault of a man at a London train station are hunting for the far-right activist Tommy Robinson, who is understood to have taken a flight out of Britain shortly after video was put online showing him near the injured man.

The video shows Robinson claiming the man had attacked him, and was filmed at London St Pancras station where he had been leafleting earlier in the day. Robinson is 42 and originally from Luton.


British Transport Police said they were called just after 8.40pm on Monday to reports of an assault. They said the injured man was in hospital “with serious injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening”.

The force said: “Following a report of an assault at St Pancras station last night (28 July), officers have confirmed that the suspect, a 42-year-old man from Bedfordshire, boarded a flight out of the country in the early hours of this morning.
 

Pentagon thrown into confusion over think tank ban​

The department’s decision not to allow employees to participate in certain events carries bigger repercussions than missed attendance.

The decision follows other seemingly political moves by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, including firing top generals and numerous admirals, and attacking the “left-wing” media.

Top leaders are clearing most of their public speaking engagements to comply with the rules, even if they’re not sure it applies to them, according to the officials.

Two of the defense officials said that they were still awaiting guidance from Hegseth’s office about how the new policy will work. Another said they have yet to see any orders at all.…”
