Burma?

C’mon now. It hasn’t been Burma for a while. But post-colonial rule has not been a bed of roses in SE Asia, or most places for that matter.
From what I understand, Burmese people use Myanmar and Burma interchangeably. Plus, we still call them Burmese and their language Burmese, etc.

My understanding is that "Myanmar" is a PR stunt forged by a junta. They changed the name for reasons I don't remember but it was intended -- as most name changes wrought by dictators -- for some nefarious purpose. Probably some sort of blood-and-soil thing. Whatever the case, it's analogous to Zaire.

Emil Bove just got confirmed to a lifetime appointment as a federal appeals
Court judge.

Confused Robert Downey Jr GIF

“… Senators voted 50-49 to confirm Trump's nominee for judge on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which oversees Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Virgin Islands. …”

Murkowski and Collins voted no, Haggerty did not show up for the vote. So Thom Tillis voted for this clown.

My theory is Thom took a bullet for Collins since she will be in a tossup race for reelection .

Collins : Thom, can you do me a favor ? Voting for this piece of shit could cost me my reelection, but if my vote were to sink Bove, then Trump will seek to destroy me. Since you aren't running again next year, a yes vote from you would help me and not hurt you.

Thom: Susan, you are needed in the Senate. You express deep concern on issues that threaten our democracy which dupes the media and your constituents into thinking you are a moderate, but your votes never undermine the MAGA/Trump agenda in the end. So yes, I will vote yes so you can vote no

Pete Hegseth has discussed running for political office in Tennessee, sources say

The defense secretary has talked privately about running a campaign in Tennessee, sources told NBC News. The Pentagon said Hegseth’s “focus remains solely on serving under” Trump.

“…
The discussions centered on what it would take to run. One person said they discussed the eligibility requirements to run for governor of Tennessee and Hegseth’s chances of winning. The other person said they talked with Hegseth about the realities of a campaign.

The people who have spoken with Hegseth said he has specifically mentioned a possible campaign for governor in Tennessee, where he lives. The state has an open race for governor next year, though there are eligibility requirements for candidates that Hegseth might not meet.…”

Possible exit ramp to save face for all involved with this idiotic appointment?

One of my law partners is half-Burmese (his father is from Burma) and he calls it Burma to this day. He actually got to go there several years ago and meet family members he had never met before. He didn’t feel completely safe, however, and ended up spending less time there than planned.
