They made that choice, and we as a society would be screwed if they did not make that choice. Just because they chose a job where they risk being shot and/or killed does not mean that they should forfeit the protections that come with that job. They made the choice to pursue a dangerous job because they knew that they are allowed to defend themselves and others, per the law. That's part of the deal.

Wow - sounds a bit like a description someone might give of teachers.

A significant percentage don't hold themselves or fellow officers to any sort of accountability...until that culture is broken, we have an issue.

Given their power I believe they should have increased accountability for violating the public trust...its sincerely limited.

She was barely moving. If she had wanted to injure him, he’d have been learning to walk again instead of justifying why he killed a pregnant woman in his own criminal trial.
She is not at all blameless here, but goddamn if cops don’t regularly set the stage so they can justify beating or shooting people.
Unfortunately, there are some who find beating and shooting people to be the best part of the job...

Remember Leni Riefenstahl ? She was the director of Hitler's propaganda films.

Every thing old is new again...

A church I previously attended had a very active program to aid a church in the back country of Haiti. The typical process was 1) buy an old school bus, 2) fill it with food, clothes, school supplies, hand tools, bottled water, etc., 3) drive the filled bus to Miami, 4) get a full tank of gas in Miami, 5) put the bus on a boat, 6) sail to Haiti, 7) pay a bribe once in Haiti to off-load the bus, 8) off-load the bus, 9) drive the bus up to the church in the mountains paying as few bribes as possible along the way, 10) unload the bus and turn it over to the church for resale, 11) spend a couple of days up in the hills working on expanding the church and buiding class rooms, 12) return to US by plane via the main airport. The folks who did this were always encouraging me to join them on one of these escapades. That was a big reason why I left that church. It just seemed WAY to sketchy for me and I wanted NOTHING to do with it.

Watchdog uncovers Ian Roberts’ MD voter registration application, says it raises red flags
MARYLAND (WBFF) — A government watchdog is questioning Maryland’s election integrity after obtaining Ian Roberts’ voter registration application.

It was recently discovered the former Iowa school superintendent and Baltimore principal appeared on the state’s voter rolls despite being in the country illegally. A failure, prompting further investigation from the American Accountability Foundation.

“We really wanted to get to the bottom of what went wrong here and see if it tells us more about what's wrong with Maryland's election system,” said President of the American Accountability Foundation, Tom Jones.

After filing a public records request with Prince George’s County — where Roberts registered — Jones uncovered not one, but two voter registration applications. One from 2011, the other 2016. On both, Roberts clearly signed under penalty of perjury that he was eligible to vote. But one key section remains unclear: his answer to ‘Are you a U.S. citizen?’ was redacted.

Would the British police officer who didn't have a gun been killed or injured? No? Then it wasn't self defense, was it?

It was the conscious choice that our society would judge his humiliation at having to jump out of the way would be judged to have more weight than her life.

If you don't think that's fucked up, you've got some soul searching to do.

Arizona AG Kris Mayes to take fake electors case to state Supreme Court

PHOENIX — Arizona’s fake electors case is headed to the state Supreme Court.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes faced a Friday deadline to decide if she would drop the case, present it to a new grand jury or appeal a September ruling from the state Court of Appeals that sent the case back to a grand jury.

She decided to appeal.

“As Arizona’s top law enforcement officer and top prosecutor, it’s my job to uphold the law and protect Arizonans,” Mayes said in a media release. “These defendants were charged based on two things: the facts and the law. We remain squarely focused on ensuring the defendants are held accountable because there is nothing more important than enforcing the rule of law.”
