I would suggest the difference is you don't have conservative influencers telling their audiences that 50% of the country (that they disagree with politically) should be banned from engaging in public activities or barred from retail establishments because they are worthless human beings. Any medical decision between physicians and parents with child is private and none of anyone's damn business. That's the traditional societal and conservative or libertarian view.

After he passes, though, I think that there will be a battle royale over who will succeed him, and it will likely be ugly and brutal, and hopefully the cult will split into different factions, just as you said.
