CURRENT EVENTS

Bill Maher lost me when he drifted into anti- science RFK,Jr loony world, but now I see that his lovefest dinner with Trump a few weeks ago may have been successful in bringing Bill into the MAGA cult.

Two possibilities : Bill is now a true believing Trump Moonie or he is pretending to be in hopes that Trump will not cancel his tv show...

Maybe both. Maybe neither. Bill Maher has been, is now, and ever will be about Bill Maher. He will do whatever it takes to draw attention to himself. He believes in nothing other than his own pompous self-aggrandizement.

Charlemagne is way off on that assessment. Like WAYYYYY off. Like Joe Scarborough saying in 2016 that "no way Trump finishes his term" way off. No idea why he thinks that, as he is seemingly otherwise politically astute and observant.

Who else is in the running this year for the Peace prize? Should be a no brainer.
Last I heard, Trump should also be getting a Noble in Economic Sciences. At least that's what I heard a bunch of MAGA dipshits (politicians) saying recently. Hope he has room on his trophy shelf for both of them. Guess he could always move a couple of those golf club championship trophies to a bathroom in Mar-a- logo.

“… Construction of the wall was a signature promise of Trump’s first term, when he said it would cost $8 billion and Mexico would ultimately pay for it. He ended up allocating $18 billion before leaving office in early 2021, mostly to rebuild stretches of wall on federal land in New Mexico and Arizona. Trump made little progress in Texas, where land to build wall must be seized from private owners.

Now that process is restarting, with money from Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.” For South Texans, that means again grappling with a confusing and highly unpopular eminent domain process, in a region where many family ranches predate their inclusion in the U.S. and rely on access to the Rio Grande as their only source of water. Since Trump regained office, border encounters have fallen further to their lowest levels since the 1960s….”

Hilarious that the man who brags he got foreign countries to pay for better tariff rates is outraged that Dems wanted him to release impounded funds to speed up review of his nominees.

hugh laurie good point GIF

But Pritzger wanted to play host to burnish his presidential aspirations… sigh

It's about damn time that the Democratic Party figure out that you fight Republicans by going lower when they go low. It's why, even if I don't particularly like Gavin Newsom, I appreciate that he's at least apparently prepared to gerrymander the entire GOP out of California if Texas does their redistricting fuckery. It's about 10 years past the time at which Democrats need to stop living and playing by rules and norms that ceased existing the moment that Trump came down his golden elevator.

If Republicans are so opposed to gerrymandering, maybe they could- wait for it- bring an anti-gerrymandering bill before the Congress which they control fully!
