Exactly. It's better than meekly surrendering because we think all of these RULEZ and NOMRZ will save us. They won't. Retaliate every single Republican gerrymandering with Democratic gerrymandering, and let it escalate to whatever level it's going to escalate.
I never thought that the "rules and norms" will save us, instead I thought we'd have to save the rules and norms.

But I now agree with you that, on the whole, Dems can't let those things interfere with holding back Trump and Pubs' harm to our government and country. The rules and norms will simply have to be rebuilt once the more immediate threats are addressed.

FTR, if the Dems in NY and CA pull the only reasonable remaining political machination, Trump will move on to another midterm rigging scheme.

Their nuclear option is obviously federalizing and/or militarizing all elections, but if that doesn’t occur, they will deploy election “monitors” en masse; work with local fascist and white supremacist groups to institute intimidation tactics; coordinate with sheriffs’ departments to create traffic “checkpoints” between liberal districts and polls; reduce polling stations; etc.

Honestly. I'd much prefer Dementia Don to be tweeting about Sydney Sweeney than letting the Russians know that we're parking a couple of nuclear-armed subs off their coast.
I agree. I'm pretty sure the Russians already knew there had been ballistic missile subs patrolling in areas where they could strike the Motherland for over 60 years. St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago announcing it was just way his way of letting is Daddy Vladdy know where they were. What was so catastrophic about John Walker's betrayal of selling to the Soviets the patrol areas and routes of the boomers was how much it helped the Soviets learn how to learn how to detect the boomers, BECAUSE THEY KNEW WERE TO LOOK! Now St Donald has pretty much done the same thing that got John Walker sent to prison for life. For all I know, St. Donald ordered the Navy assign those subs to a specific route/patrol areas so the Russians could update their tracking protocols from the days of John Walker.

ETA: I'm pretty sure I once read that the nuclear missle subs could hit every major city in the Northern Hemisphere from their home ports in Charleston and the Puget Sound. The moment those two subs left port, every major city in Russia was in range.

Each of these runaway legislators face a potential fine of up to $500/day for their absence, apparently, though the state has to make individual claims against each one, if I understood correctly.

Did Jaguar ‘go woke and go broke’? No, it’s more complicated than that

The silly season discourse pinning Jaguar sales figures on a car that didn’t even exist was enough to make the eyes roll, writes Sean O’Grady – they’re simply not making cars, but there’s life in the old cat yet

“… The “collapse in sales” has nothing to do with anything other than the ending of production. It’s like saying that sales of Morris or Hillman cars have “collapsed” in 2025. If Jaguar were still making their stylish saloons, sports cars and SUVs, people would be happy to buy them. Pink wasn’t even a special paint option. …”

“…According to the poll, 64% of the lowest-income Americans — those who have a household income of less than $30,000 a year — say the cost of groceries is a “major” stressor. That’s compared with about 4 in 10 Americans who have a household income of $100,000 or more.

But even within that higher-income group, only about 2 in 10 say grocery costs aren’t a worry at all….”

Russia may be reframing this now as a sort of response to Trump’s nuclear sub post (which probably just acknowledged that we have nuclear subs in position to respond to a Russian threat already, not new orders to escalate existing posture … probably but we don’t really know for sure.
