CURRENT EVENTS

It goes way back to 2006 when he purchased the Menie estate in Aberdeen, Scotland. He planned to build the golf course he just opened... but there were already plans in place to construct an offshore wind farm, which he objected to, because he didn't want them to infringe on the views from his precious golf course. He battled the construction all through the Scottish courts and eventually the UK supreme court and lost. And he's been throwing a tantrum ever since.

He's a giant toddler.
Thanks, I didn't know that. Given how petty and vindictive he is his hatred of wind energy makes perfect sense now.

He's just a sick, cruel bastard and definitely a racist and bigot of major proportions. And liberals and New Yorkers and anyone who is objective has known that for a long, long time. And yet his supporters will defend him no matter what. Hell, rammy has posted several times recently that Dear Leader has had an awesome, fantastic first six months in office. And that attitude says more about his supporters than they will ever admit.

He’s a racist and he’s a believer in the being born on third base and thinking you hit a triple club. In fact, he deserved to be born on third base in his mind. He believes some people are born better than others and the “other” need to know their place and stay in it.

Good. Take those 5 seats in Texas. Dems can take 52 in California, 17 in Illinois, and so on...
We can’t take 52 in California. There are already 43 democrats in California and there are some extremely Trumpy areas of the state (basically any area 100 miles from the ocean). A computer perfect map and a good Democrat environment could get maybe another 5.

I just think all this gerrymandering teeth-gnashing is going to prove hilarious when the Dems gain 40 seats regardless.

Mid terms are almost always about: a) is the opposition party motivated (check); b) is the president popular (nope); and c) how's the economy (will probably be terrible in a few months, and people already think it's bad). Oh, and which side has the higher propensity voters.

This is why I'm predicting a blue tsunami. Of course, the media is full of stories about "actually, it's going to be close" for the same reason that TV commentators like to pretend that a team can come back from a 4 TD deficit at half time -- they don't want people turning the game off and doing something else. Now, it's true that every blue moon or two, some team does come back down 4 TDs at halftime, but the vast, vast majority of the time it's not.

Trump won 56.14% of the vote in Texas in 2024.

Currently, Texas has 38 U.S. House seats and the GOP holds 25 of them (65.8%).

If they gerrymander their way to 3 more seats, the GOP will have 73.7% of the seats. If they figure out how to get five more, they would have 79%.

Currently, Texas only has two districts with a partisan lean of less than R or D + 7 (one is R + 2 and one even) and only six total are single digit spreads.

A strange view of entitlement …

This all assumes we have free and fair elections. Pubs are working hard to make sure we do not.

Not really a surprise, given that it's apparently a well-known secret in DC GOP circles that he's been having an extramarital affair with Noem for several years. They travel everywhere together and in 2021 were reportedly seen "making out" at a bar at that year's CPAC conference they attended together (to no doubt promote those "traditional family values" that conservatives and CPAC love to talk about). They're both sleazy and power-hungry hypocrites of the highest (or lowest) order, imo.

A 2023 story about their affair: SD Gov. Kristi Noem having ‘absurdly blatant and public’ affair with ‘handsy’ Trump aide Corey Lewandowski, sources say

As the population continues to increase, in terms of number of votes, he is [for once] telling the truth. However, in terms of percentage of the Texas vote in the last 100 years, he is behind Romney in 2012, W in both 2000 and 2004, Reagan in 1984, Nixon in 1972, LBJ in 1964, Truman in 1948, and FDR in all 4 of his elections. In other words 12th out of 25.
