I agree that the main reason for all of this is to get his name on - or to be responsible for significant changes to - as many things as possible.Part of me thinks Trump's crusade to alter and rename various iconic buildings and the presidential golf course is an act of self aggrandizement in the here and now. Another part of me thinks his frantic effort is a response to his awareness of his imminent mortality, and he desperately wants to be remembered fondly beyond the grave.
The naming will be easy to rectify, the next Dem president can just remove his name from everything. But making significant changes to existing and, presumably, long-term properties will be much tougher. Unless the next president were willing to spend a whole lot of money to undo these actions (the new ballroom, the proposed arch) then they may actually stick around for quite awhile.
