I will freely admit that Luke Decock is not my favorite writer, but he absolutely smashed the nail right on the head with every word of this column. It is by far one of the most scathing things I’ve ever read about UNC. It stings like hell because it’s true.

I have no bone to pick with those who hate the Belichick hire, but bringing an N&O article from Luke Decock is a terrible choice to display said dissatisfaction.

I coudn't disagree more vehemently. I don't like Luke DeCock's writing at all, but should we only share viewpoints by writers with whom we agree (or happen to like)? That doesn't seem very prudent to me. I view this article as being written by someone whom I don't like, who is sharing a viewpoint/perspective with which I happen to find agreement. Was it harsh? Absolutely? Was it inaccurate? I don't think it was.

It's one thing to refer to people we don't like, but the N&O pursued a vendetta against UNC for years using incredibly dubious and unethical tactics and Decock was part of that goat rodeo. As I said, I have no quarrel with negative comments towards the Belichick hire, but fuck the N&O for life. Also fuck that stupid cunt gtyellowjacket.
 
college sports have been corrupt and scandalous for years

a lot of what was said had truth in it, but i understand fans are emotional little bitches esp when it comes to criticisms of any type towards their favorite schools....thats a 100% given truth no matter what.

I would take it a step further and say that you don't have to reject every single thing written by anyone at the N&O. But there are certain writers (Such as Decock and Kane) that should be dismissed out of hand. Decock's purpose as a writer is to degrade UNC. That is all you will ever get from him when it comes to UNC. I don't need to read a single thing written by him. He contributes nothing of value.

I hear y’all. I can totally understand where you’re coming from with the dislike of both Luke DeCock and of the N&O as a whole. I totally get it.

But my thing is, let’s take Luke’s name off of the column. Heck’s, let’s even take it out of the N&O. Let’s put it in any other publication, one that has never had a gripe or beef with UNC, and let’s make it authored by a writer with no previous history of bashing UNC. Would what was written in the column be inaccurate in any way? In my view, no. I totally understand others may disagree and see it differently and that’s OK.

I guess I’m just trying to say that, to me, the content of the column itself – completely ignoring the author of the column and the publication in which it resides- nailed the current situation we are in at UNC with Belichick.
 


Obviously the phrasing of that tweet by McMurphy is dumb, but I generally don’t think it’s a good thing for our football coach to be on the cover of a national publication because his 24-year-old girlfriend who is 50 years his junior is the primary topic of conversation during the football season. I’m pretty sure that this is not what we are paying $50 million to get.

Just to be clear, I'm not arguing against any criticism of Belichick. He has stunk and has made the football program a circus. I'm just saying I won't read anything from Decock published in the N&O for well supported reasons that don't need to be rehashed here. It's sort of like arguing against corruption by posting a tweet from Trump. The source destroys credibility imo.
