Among the potential candidates are economic adviser Stephen Miran and former World Bank Group President David Malpass

“… Trump said he might appoint Stephen Miran, a close economic adviser, to replace Cook. Earlier this month, the president nominated Miran to fill a different seat on the Fed’s board. But the term for that seat expires in January. Cook’s term is set to expire in 2038. “We might switch him to the other—it’s a longer term,” Trump said.

Among the other potential candidates Trump has discussed, according to some of the people: former World Bank Group President David Malpass, a close ally of the president who has criticized the Federal Reserve for not lowering interest rates. Malpass could be chosen to fill the other open Fed board seat if Miran is nominated to replace Cook. …”

“Initial jobless claims fell by 5,000 to 229,000 in the week ended Aug. 23, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The data indicate that the tick up in claims in the prior week was not the start of a higher trend of layoffs.”

A couple of thoughts.....
  1. You don't fire someone based on allegations and claims. This should have quietly gone to the DoJ for review and the DoJ can bring charges if they think it's needed.
  2. Even if true, it probably isn't a legitimate basis for firing her.
  3. For Jeffries, but Dems in general...can anything.... ANYTHING... ever not be about race?
Today, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

"Dr. Lisa Cook is the first Black woman ever to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Donald Trump is trying to remove her without a shred of credible evidence that she has done anything wrong.

To the extent anyone is unfit to serve in a position of responsibility because of deceitful and potentially criminal conduct, it is the current occupant of the White House. The American people are not buying your phony projection and slander of a distinguished public servant."

you make my point - I'd never heard of that before now. You have testicles on your brain. Maybe you should try them on your face so you'll stop being such as asshole to trans people.

Did Jeffries make this about race ? Was that your takeaway from his statement ?

Even though Trump has a long and proven history of racial bigotry, I guess it could be mere coincidence that the Fed gov. he targeted for removal happened to be a black woman.

Yes, when the very first sentence is to bring up a characteristic that is absolutely irrelevant to the situation, you are making it about race.

There's no reason to believe the move was racially motivated. Trump has fired a lot of people with low levels of melanin.

You must live a an intentionally sheltered life to not know of Jeffries' comments on hundreds of issues not involving race. The fact that you go there seems to indicate that you are offended that race is ever an issue. Thou doth protest too much.
