When drugs are outlawed, only outlaws will have drugs. What kind of world would that be?
More like: When weed is regulated, only our cronies that bought and hold stock in established weed companies back in the early wild west days of legalization and who now pay kickbacks to keep their growing/dispensary licenses will be able to profit from selling weed.

I enjoy edibles, but always feel off the 2nd day after I eat some (at least when I have enough to get me really baked).

Sort of messes with my chemistry and I don't eat much the 2nd day after... so I have tried to take that into account when I do eat enough

The alcohol lobby may have played a role but it was mostly Moscow Mitch. The 2018 Farm Bill that unintentionally created the loophole allowing these hemp products was one of his signature pieces of legislation and he wanted to close that loophole. He successfully slipped this ban into the bill at the last minute.

Hopefully, something will be worked out over the next year to legalize these products, probably with stronger regulation. I find them to be an amazing solution for reducing stress and anxiety.

I heard the alcohol industry was behind this - basically because they are mad no one drinks anymore
Which is shortsighted - they should view it as a business opportunity. I know Foothills is making bank off their THC seltzer. With AmBev’s (or whoever) manufacturing and distribution, and with the margins on the seltzers, there is a huge opportunity for add’l rev streams.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of edibles - never smoked weed and can't stand the smell of it - but sounds like edibles will be going away? At least legal edibles?

"regular" ones in legal states (NY, MA, MI, CA, CO, etc etc etc) are still all safe. That's regular THC not hemp THC

Not really, just in states like NC that allowed other types of THC (all the Deltas).

But edibles will regular old THC will still be available in states where weed/thc is legal. So virginia, Colorado, Cali, etc will have plenty 'black market' supply to satisfy those in states where it is still illegal

I mean even in the states where rec marijuana is legal it's still not federally legal. It seems highly unlikely to me states are going to enforce federal hemp derived THC laws when they don't even enforce the actual marijuana laws.
