The Cataclysmic Post-Election Scenario No One’s Bracing For

“… Before the House can do anything—before it can even form—lawmakers have to elect a speaker and adopt a rules package (in that order). This typically occurs on January 3, the day the new Congress is sworn in, giving ample time before the counting of the Electoral College votes on January 6. But if the House is frozen like it was for several days at the start of the 118th Congress—well, no one knows for sure what would happen. …”

And the new law limiting possible hijinx in the electoral count only goes into effect upon swearing in the new Congress.

So having Dems win the House could be vital if Harris wins to prevent a new scheme to throw it to the SCOTUS if the GOP controls the House but cannot elect a speaker by Jan 6.

2024 could be the last election in our country, but for the exact opposite reasons he provides.
Not much has been done during the Biden Admin's 4 yrs to prevent this situation. So even if Kamala wins now, we might be facing the exact same problem in 2028 from a Desantis, Vivek, other Trump, or mr eyeliner couch fvcker.

good news !

Let's hope that the GQP voter suppression/nullification efforts continue to be thwarted.

In-person early voting in Georgia begins today. Hopefully, the other GQP voter suppression strategies that have been implemented will not dampen early voting🤞

Voting rights groups say Wisconsin students got texts that could scare them away from voting, call for investigation

“… The unsolicited text, sent from at least one 262- number to cell phones of people in their early 20s on University of Wisconsin campuses and elsewhere, says: “WARNING: Violating WI Statutes 12.13 & 6.18 may result in fines up to $10,000 or 3.5 years in prison. Don’t vote in a state where you’re not eligible.” …

In Wisconsin, students who have lived in one voting area for 28 consecutive days and plan to continue staying there can vote in those places, according to the state’s election commission. Even if a college student returns to his or her parent’s house on weekends temporarily, they can still vote where they primarily live, such as on a college campus, the Wisconsin Election Commission’s guide for students says. …”

With early in-person voting underway, the conspiracy theorizing has already begun in earnest.

Election poll watchers weren’t effective enough, so right wing activists are training poll workers to volunteer to stop allegedly suspicious people (not Republicans) from voting.

“…
A coalition of activists on the political right, many of whom have promoted false claims about election fraud, is recruiting poll workers to administer the process themselves rather than watching from the outside. The groups are urging people to work at their local polling stations and to report perceived irregularities to those groups’ external hotlines — something that could risk violating the law.

“Poll watcher is the person where you get kicked out if chicanery happens,” Mercedes Sparks, who works for Wallnau, said at the same tent revival, explaining the recruitment initiative. “If you’re a poll worker, you’re the one doing the chicanery, so you can lock the door. You can kick everybody out.”

Sparks said by email that her remarks were a “lighthearted joke,” and that she and Wallnau “make it clear that everyone must follow election laws.” Wallnau did not respond to multiple calls, emails or a list of detailed questions.

The politicized effort to recruit poll workers is concentrated in at least six swing states. ProPublica and Wisconsin Watch reviewed dozens of hours of trainings and presentations, some closed to the press, in which activists discussed their plans.

Activists, including Wallnau, have told recruits they can be a “spy in the camp” or “Trojan horse” on Election Day.

But while elections officials in more than a dozen swing-state counties said safeguards are in place to prevent interference, they and elections experts warned of a bigger threat: delegitimizing the process. If poll workers report their experiences to groups with a history of spreading false claims about election fraud, they may help further distrust in the system and results. …”

"This election season is fraught; memories of January 6 have not faded away, regardless of one's view of that date's fame or infamy. Anything that adds uncertainty and disorder to the electoral process disserves the public,"

Georgia judge blocks rule requiring hand-count of US election ballots

Oct 15 (Reuters) - A Georgia judge on Tuesday temporarily halted a new rule requiring poll workers to hand count ballots in November's U.S. elections, in a defeat for Donald Trump, whose Republican allies pushed the change after he lost the battleground state in 2020.

The hand-count rule was passed on Sept. 20 by a pro-Trump conservative majority of Georgia's election board, who said they were attempting to make the Nov. 5 election more secure and transparent.

Democrats had said the change would sow chaos and delay results.

Georgia, where early voting began in record numbers on Tuesday, is one of seven battleground states likely to determine the presidential contest between the former president and his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. In 2020, Trump made false claims of widespread voting fraud in the Southern state.

Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney said in his decision on Tuesday that it was appropriate to pause the vote counting rule because it introduced fresh uncertainty into the process just weeks before Election Day.

For someone reportedly convinced that he is winning, Trump is still spending a lot of time prepping the stolen election narrative…

  • “There was NEVER A QUESTION that they would HAVE TO STEAL for Biden to 'win.' They knew this. (They know this about Harris too.)
  • They cheated in not just one big way, and not only in swing states. That would have been too obvious.
  • They cheated in all ways possible, both before the election, throughout election day, and later while 'counting votes.' (The 'before' part is happening again right now.)
  • But because all pre-election polls were intentionally manipulated, they had no way to predict how many legal votes for Trump there would be. (Some things never change. Cheaters are slow learners.)
  • Unexpectedly, they had to load fake ballots in areas they considered Trump-proof and that brought the fake ballot total to an unbelievable, 'MY ASS" level. (Ut oh...My ass always knows before the rest of me.)
  • Trump did well ALL OVER THE COUNTRY and the cheaters simply didn't see it coming.
  • That's how the 81M happened, friends.(They'll need 120M for Harris)Trump support is EVERYWHERE and it's grown since 2020.(TENFOLD)
  • We're not up against Harris. (That's LAUGHABLE.)
  • If the cheaters believe we will EVER again let a steal stand, they're not paying attention.(NO MORE LIES!)
  • Free countries have FAIR elections.
  • It really is that simple.”
