Until today, the MAGA line was that Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago in 2004 because he learned Epstein was a pervert. Now the story is being changed.

Trump ended his relationship with Epstein over a real estate deal. Many believe that Trump played a role in Epstein's criminal issues in Florida in the early 2000's.

I think people are drawn to Trump precisely BECAUSE he doesn't sound like a politician/lawyer who carefully crafts and focus group tests his language.

At the time Trump ceased his relationship with Epstein he had not been charged or convicted of any sex trafficking charges. I will note that MANY famous and wealthy people continued to publicly associate with Epstein after he pled guilty to soliciting and procuring minors for prostitution in 2008 and was a registered sex offender:

I didn't mean for it to sound as if he only recently began his charities. Poor wording on my part. I know he's done a lot. Some of the documentaries about him are amazing. Compared to trumps documentaries which are disgusting.

But, if it were to come out that he was in the Epstein files for the same reasons that we assume trump is there for, I would struggle to vote for him, even considering his charitable endeavors.

I don't believe that trumps charitable endeavors are anywhere near that of Gates and I believe that trump is more of a sleaze ball, so I could never vote for him either.

How in the world would I know why one world-class asshole stopped associating with another world-class asshole? I won't even begin to try to muster enough give-a-damn to try to ponder why Donald Trump stopped hanging out with Jeff Epstein.

To your point about not being able to cite Trump's gross banter on the Stern show about wanting to bang his teenage daughter: you are exactly right! That in and of itself does not mean that he is an actual pedophile who actually raped minors! As gross and revolting as it is, it's just "locker room talk."

However.....

You know what does make it seem more probable than not that he actually raped minors? The fact that he has been accused as doing such by multiple women. The fact that he has ben held civilly liable by a bipartisan jury of his peers for sexual assault. The fact that he was best friends with a renowned pedophile. The fact that there is proof that Trump traveled on Epstein's private plane. The fact that there is proof that Trump attended Epstein's parties in NYC which were known to be brimming with underage women. Take all of the this and combine it with the fact that Trump is refusing to release the very files on which he campaigned to release, and combine it with the fact that he and his administration have been caught in a series of patently absurd lies about it....

Surely you can understand why folks are suspicious? It doesn't take being a "hard-core Trump-hating lefty" to see that there's an awful lot of smoke for there to be no fire. Maybe there is no fire! That would be great if there is no fire because it would mean that the president of the United States actually isn't a child rapist! But surely you are not so blind in your partisanship or so engulfed in your love of Donald Trump to acknowledge that there is at least a legitimate question that has not yet been satisfactorily answered because the person who promised to release the files has suddenly clammed up and started acting extremely strange about it.
