It's a massive horse. Bigger than Big Red (Secretariat). And very much alive. It's not a dead horse... All the people involved still have all their jobs and security clearances.
This horse is very much alive.
The problem is none of that is going to change. Trump sure as hell won’t fire anyone or allow anyone to strip clearances and Congress is too cowardly to impeach any of them. It's not a dead horse... All the people involved still have all their jobs and security clearances.
This horse is very much alive.
“… Those affected by the leaks include National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
Most of these numbers and email addresses are apparently still in use, with some of them linked to profiles on social media platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn. They were used to create Dropbox accounts and profiles in apps that track running data. There are also WhatsApp profiles for the respective phone numbers and even Signal accounts in some cases.
… Hostile intelligence services could use this publicly available data to hack the communications of those affected by installing spyware on their devices. It is thus conceivable that foreign agents were privy to the Signal chat group in which Gabbard, Waltz and Hegseth discussed a military strike. …”
“… “I just talked to Elon on the way here. We have the best technical minds looking at how this happened,” the group’s creator, Mike Waltz, told Fox News on Tuesday.
… In 2023, a Pentagon memo warned against using Signal and other mobile for any nonpublic, official information, NPR reported.
On March 18, an agency-wide email repeated that Signal shouldn’t be used even for non-classified communications because Russian hackers were using the “linked devices” feature to spy on encrypted conversations. …”
[Hegseth did this too, as was discovered during his confirmation hearings]
None of the conversation should have happened on Signal. Full stop. It is patently against the law to have those discussions on a medium where the records cannot be maintained.Unfortunately, I think this is correct. Trump's cabinet members have tied themselves in knots trying to admit absolutely no wrongdoing because they think the Boss wants them to do so. Waltz is the only one who said he screwed up and the buck stops with him. Simply admit you were wrong and move on. Trump has actually been pretty reasonable in HIS comments, stating everyone needs to learn from their mistakes.
What else is there to say about this? We know Pete shouldn't have been discussing the timing of the attacks on Signal and Goldberg shouldn't have been added to the chat by Waltz (or staff). At this point the dead horse is simply being hit.
