Because it's intended to open up Red Sea commerce?
Everything affects commerce. If that was the standard, the trade rep would be the president.

In reality, of course, most people can understand that the USTR has specific duties that relate to international trade in a certain way, without being co-extensive with the whole concept of commerce.

In the old days -- you know, back when it was expected for people given top secret clearances to pass a security check -- the reason not to include USTR would be obvious based simply on the fact that the USTR people aren't going to have the highest clearances. They don't need them, because their work doesn't involve them, and obtaining the highest security clearances would be a waste of time and potentially deprive USTR of talent in a field that's not exactly brimming with brilliant people (and to know why, you only need watch Quiz Show).

Maybe it's a bad idea for the country to sell out all its principles, erode our liberties and civil rights, and elect nincompoops based on imagined threats that have no basis in reality. Why y'all so scared of everything? Living in fear, my god.
It's because Fox News. Fox News has managed to brainwash and cultivate a population of fact-ignorant sissies. Like Pandemic Blue, for example.

Ooof. This ain’t a good look, brother. Even by your standards of reflexively defending literally anything and everything Donald Trump, to say that there was no breach of security is astonishingly dumb. I mean, they literally were texting about actual attack plans involving active duty United States military personnel who were dropping munitions on enemy targets in enemy territory. Are you really going to try to act like this is a giant nothing burger with a straight face? Come on, now. You can still love Donald Trump and also accept that this is a colossal national security failure that needs to be rectified with resignations or firings.
No doubt Pete shouldn't have been identifying the timing for the attacks but at least no information of individual sources, specific weaponry to be used and units involved in the attack. I've already said they should admit they erred and move on.

As for firing, name me one Biden official or military official that was fired for the Afghanistan debacle or any other screw up?

It’s even worse than that! The architect of the Afghanistan debacle was just REHIRED by the American people for another four years term!

This isn’t an “admit they erred and move on” situation. They were discussing actual military movement and attack plans on an unauthorized, unsecured channel, and included someone who does not have security clearances. This is a “multiple someones need to resign or be fired” situation, and you know good and well that would be your stance had this occurred under the Biden administration. You know it, I know it.
