But isn’t that the very definition of ignorance?

Literally everyone with a pulse could tell that Trump has never ever given a fuck about working class people.

We’re talking about a guy who largely stayed financially solvent by employing undocumented immigrants, stiffing contractors, conning poor people, skipping out on paying taxes, and committing fraud.

That’s on top of volumes of evidence of a life of infidelity, sexual assault, defamation, racism, sexism, greed, fraud, and malice.

Yet his supporters remain willfully ignorant of those facts. Or rather, they reject those facts on the whole and replace them with an imagined narrative of virility, strength, power, cunning, intelligence, selflessness, and patriotism.
Maybe, but I would argue that extreme gullibility is an even better definition than ignorance. No doubt they're ignorant in many ways, but far too many of these people see themselves as shrewd and savvy when they're actually easy suckers and marks for con artists like Trump and assorted televangelists and quacks. Ignorance plays a part, but so does gullibility and naivete. At any rate it's really all a part of the pattern - a toxic combination of ignorance, gullibility, and placing blind trust and faith in all the wrong people.

These people are not ignorant. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or information.

They had the information. They just choose to not believe it.

The question is why would they choose not to believe he is the piece of shit that he is?

On the BBC the other week they showed people from a town who were solid Conservative voters for ages. The district went to Labour in the last election. Like 6 months into the Labour government (i.e. not a lot of time to change things), these people were unhappy again. They were asked to describe Keir Starmer in one word. You heard a lot of "disappointing" "failed" etc. Then they were asked to describe Nigel Farage and you heard things like "incompetent" "liar" "untrustworthy" "unqualified" etc etc. The next question was who are you voting for if the election was now. Nine out of ten them said they would vote for Farage. It was actually eight out of 10, but the first guy saw everyone else vote for Farage and changed his vote.

Most of their comments were still about immigrants and lack of jobs, and the cost of living etc.

These folks, like most Trump voters are just profoundly angry and unhappy people who want to bring pain to others. They want everyone pulled down into the mire.

With all due respect, I beg to differ...

These MAGAs did not have the information which is not say they did not have access to the information

But MAGAs watch Fox News and do not seek news from accurate legitimate media. This is the problem with at least 1/3 of the country getting information from a fascist propaganda network

You had to basically live in a hole to not hear the shit that trump constantly spewed. I agree that fox did cover up as much as they could and that these people didn't seem knowledge, but I find it hard for them to claim complete ignorance. Maybe willful ignorance.

But far too many made it clear they heard him say these things with the comments that it's just trump being trump, he isn't really going to do it.

I think we may be talking about different MAGA cohorts. I'm submitting that the vast majority of Trump's supporters were and are completely ignorant . Those other more informed MAGAs like HeelYeah, were informed but were confident Trump would put more money in their wallets and chose to ignore the broader fascist consequences of a Trump presidency.

Until recently, much of the world agreed: America makes the best fighter jets.
Even a half-century-old model no longer purchased by the United States military proved so popular abroad that Lockheed Martin started an assembly line here solely for foreign buyers. That export shop turned this conservative slice of South Carolina into the “Global Home of the F-16,” the governor declared, seeding hundreds of jobs while boosting Upstate part-makers. The Greenville site annually pumps $1.3 billion into the local economy, business leaders estimate.

...

Escalating tensions have sparked apprehension in the Palmetto State, which honors the F-16 Fighting Falcon with its own holiday. Company towns that cater to foreign clients are bracing for the fallout as calls to boycott Uncle Sam are growing louder. Many MAGA devotees say they think Trumpian tough love will yield better deals and more balanced international relationships. Yet in Greenville County, a manufacturing hub that Trump handily won, nerves are fraying among some who rely on a stable geopolitical climate.

Taunting allies could hurt an industry crucial to this community, said Calvin Means, a 32-year-old aircraft maintenance student at a technical school that partners with Lockheed Martin.
“It’s not about you or your opinion,” he said. “It’s about the millions of people relying on you to ensure they can feed their families.”

...

Domestic spending will cushion much of the U.S. defense industry, analysts project, but the outlook for export-dependent products like the Flying Falcons could be far grimmer. Nations with looser ties to Washington could look at Trump’s treatment of the White House’s supposed best friends and think: Maybe let’s go with Sweden’s Gripen.

“If foreign buyers think this is too risky,” Cancian said, “the line shuts down and everyone loses their job.”

Lockheed Martin declined to comment on whether geopolitics have affected F-16 sales. The Greenville facility has a production backlog of 115 jets, a spokeswoman confirmed. Slovakia, Bulgaria, Bahrain, Taiwan, Jordan and one other nation that asked to remain anonymous have placed orders.
“A critical component of the American defense industrial base, the F-16 program supports more than 46,000 domestic jobs,” the company said in a statement, “including about 1,800 in Greenville.”

Complete lack of empathy. They knew bad things would happen. They knew bad things would happen to people like them. They did not think it would impact them personally, and they only ever consider themselves.
I remember my very first poast on the old IC ZZLP claiming that Pubs and conservatives lacked the wherewithal to be empathic - they lacked the capacity to feel empathy - and Super jumped all over me saying he absolutely HATED claims like that... I was excoriated on the board in a manner that only Super can do. I was like: "who is THIS guy?"

Obviously, I agree with you Lando - I still feel that way - and I've got receipts.... and they're mounting daily as we go merrily along.

Whirlpool Corporation will lay off 651 workers at its manufacturing plant in Amana, Iowa, the company announced this week.

It's a move that has triggered political backlash and renewed scrutiny of recent changes to the state's unemployment benefits.

The layoffs, effective June 1, represent the largest in Iowa since Tyson Foods closed its Perry facility last year, affecting 1,276 workers.

Why It Matters

The job losses come just weeks after Iowa's Republican-led Legislature reduced the duration of unemployment benefits available to workers affected by plant layoffs and closings, a move that labor leaders and Democratic lawmakers argue leaves displaced workers with fewer options during economic uncertainty.

Wait, the tariffs and republican policies were supposed to create manufacturing...

Why is Whirlpool laying off people, did they miss the message?
