Well I was standing in a grocery in Mesa, Arizona,
What a sad sight did I see.
It was poor ass schmuck in a souped up truck
Buying food with a card he got for free.
I drive a light blue/gray Lexus IS250. Sorry to ruin your stereotypes.

Zen is trying to impress by mentioning he drives a Lexus….an IS250…..a model last sold in 2015.

Note he told us the color, not the year.

Don’t get me wrong; a 2015 well-maintained Lexus is a nice car. My Dad has a 2015 Acura sedan…..much nicer car than my 2018 Accord.

People complain about these "handouts" as they call it, but don't even know maybe a penny from their taxes are going to it. Meanwhile, all the other things their tax money goes to that they benefit from the government is okay. Look how much tax money is going to the defense budget, too. The waste on things for defense and to make sure rich people don't pay their fair share is enough to pay for every American to live comfortably with things like affordable housing and healthcare.

We send Israel more than 3 billion dollars annually.

Israel has state funded healthcare.

Nope. Just refuting stereotyping.

For reasons that should be obvious, the year is irrelevant.

As is the color, yet you made sure to include that. This entire conversation is immaterial. It is ONE anecdote out of millions of samples. Doesn't mean or represent anything, even if completely true. For that one example, I could provide dozens of EBT/SNAP transactions that APPEARED to be fully normal.

Clothes - could be knockoffs (TEMU/Wish/Aliexpress), Goodwill, eBay, hand-me-downs, yard sales and many other ways of getting them. I wear lots of clothes that I normally couldn't/wouldn't because I get them cheaply. I would never pay $100 or more for a shirt, but I have dozens that retailed for that or more, but I most certainly did not pay that for them.

Car - rental. borrowed, their´s but not their card (since they didn't know how to use it).

EBT/SNAP Card - Not theirs but loaned. Theirs, but just became eligible through a new hardship ( could still have the other things from prior).

When you look for the worst, you will find it, even if it doesn't exist. Worry about yourself first, instead of others.

"Nope. Just refuting stereotyping." - If so, then why are you spreading more?

I'm a Huge Thrift Shop Fan. On my way into La Rambla today to do some thrifting with my daughter today as a matter of fact. it is una mina de oro!!!
Me as well, ESPECIALLY for clothes. I only buy name-brand, lightly used, and professionally cleaned (still have tags on them) shirts. Pay between 3 and 6 for each instead of 75 or more. No one knows that I didn't buy them retail. Other than underwear, socks, shoes, and jeans, nearly ALL my clothes are used when I purchase them

I’m afraid that my Thrift inclination is very obvious. It was born of decades in the hipsterdom of Chapel Hill/Carrboro and reinforced by over a decade now in Asheville (Oh God!). I’ve only just begun to wear shirts with collars as I climb back into Real Space from my pandemic daze as a Total Zoomer.
