You forgot the part where their buddy Jesus compels them to classify trans people and gays and others to be seen as people who don't deserve proper rights.
I said "broad social conservatism".

God, these people are all such frightened snowflakes. They talk tough, but if anyone hits back they whine and cry and accuse them of being mean and threatening. It would be pitiful it wasn't for the fact that they're in charge of the government and threatening to use the power of said government to go after anyone who disagrees with or criticizes them.

Anybody see Newsom on Colbert the other night? Neither did I, as I was watching Jimmy K just like you were. But I did see the replay on YouTube the next day.

Gavin was a little antsy at first… squirming around in his chair trying to get comfortable. Looked nervous. But all of his answers, responses and statements were spot on. He eventually settled down in his chair and quit squirming… and he went to work on Trump and MAGA pretty hard.

Targeting Trump’s poasting style
Concerns about 2028 election even happening
Countering Texas redistricting
Calling out Federal Healthcare BS and touting his West Coast alliance

Newsom pulled no punches.

Easy to notice his strong performance - highlights his growing popularity among Democrats and his potential as a 2028 presidential contender.

On October 2, 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom threatened to cut billions in state funding from any California university that signs a "Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education" proposed by the Trump administration
The compact offers favorable federal funding to universities that agree to a list of conservative-aligned demands.

Sorry @Calheel… yo boy Gavin keeps pulling all the right strings

Given his record in CA, would you vote for him in a dem. primary?

Depends on who ran against him. I’d vote for Pete Buttigieg over him, but would have zero problems voting for Newsom. He’s smart, charismatic, and likable.

And I know you aren’t actually insinuating that past performance should be some kind of bellwether for the office are you?

Remember the state of the country after your guy left the first time?

Smart, charismatic and likable is enough to earn your vote? I didn't vote for trump in the primary. I voted for Haley. She had a pretty good record in SC and at the UN. I realize you would vote for newsome in a general election. I was asking about his record in CA as it relates to a primary? Do you feel he did a good job in CA?

My number one priority is electability. I prefer someone like Bashier or Shapiro better. I personally like Pete best but he is unelectable. The biggest negative for Newsome in the general is being from California. If not for that I think he would be an obvious front runner for the Dem nomination.

Do you think the Beatles should have kept Pete Best over Ringo Starr?

I guess I'm trying to understand the reasons someone votes for him in a primary given his pretty dismal record in CA. I get voting for him in a general election vs whoever the republican candidate is. But of all those on the dem side, he would be the last one I would vote for in a primary. 2nd to last if kamala was in the primary. He is smart, has charisma, and is a player in the party. But those traits didn't aid his actual performance in CA. If he was a college football coach based on his record he would likely be fired and not someone people would likely want at UNC.

A good job at the UN?

What did she do? What did she do that differs from Trump policy?

Yes, he did do a good job as Governor of a state with the 4th largest economy in the world.

I’ll repeat that: California has the 4th largest economy in the world, recently passing Japan. And that growth happened under Newsom. +6% in 2024, which significantly outpaced the national average. +4.3% midyear 2025, again outpacing national average.

And he did all this while pushing WOKE DEI DEVILRY AND MANDATING SEX REASSIGNMENT SURGERY FOR ALL KINDERGARTNERS!
