I don't hate people just because I think they are unelectable. Mayor Pete is certainly unelectable, but I think he is a great politician and great communicator.
In contrast, Newsom is both unelectable and eminently hateable.

In any event, this seems like such a weird fight. The problem with Newsom had nothing to do with Napa County guidelines. It was that he loudly and publicly told everyone in the entire state not to eat Thanksgiving dinner with MiMaw. That you could only take down your mask for a minute to gobble turkey with immediate family members only. And yet, when he is giving that advice to the entire state, he is going to a big shindig paid by lobbyists. And then he lies by saying it was an "outdoor" gathering. Does this look outdoors to you:

Very few politicians are electable -- mainly because they do not have what it takes to get through a primary and a general (which are two very different skill sets).
Donald Trump is electable and I hate him.
Kamala Harris is unelectable and I do not hate her.
Newsom is both unelectable and hateable.

Think you are reading a bit too much into that line. To be completely clear, I don't hate candidates simply because they cannot win. At least not in the visceral way I dislike Newsom. More like the "I hate that candidate to run" kinda way.
I don’t see Calheel as hating Biden, Kamala, Mayor Pete, AOC, and others……
I’m curious as to why he seems to hate Newsom……someone I see as an inconsequential politician.
In terms of Newsom, I couldn’t raise up enough emotions to hate the guy.
Because he is fake. It just oozes out of every pore of his being.
Because he is intentionally tacking to the right to make his views seem more mainstream -- but in a very fake way.
Because he is platforming alt-right voices on his podcast.
Because he goes on national TV during primetime to deliver a speech that is 100% about improving his presidential aspirations -- not about helping the citizens of his state.
Because he is a hypocrite.

I hope you are right. If Gavin is the Democratic nominee, I'll have no choice but to vote for him. I *think* Democrats are smart enough not to elect this "non-descript politician" from California. Unfortunately, given the Newsom-stanning by some on this thread, I am worried that he may already be in the lead for 2028.
He wasn't outside.

Appears to be more than three households.

Let me post it again since you seem to have forgotten it.
Napa County, like the state overall, says that gatherings of more than three households are prohibited. However, that guideline may only apply to gatherings in private residences. Restaurants operate in a gray area and do not explicitly have a ban on more than three households, according to the last guidance California released in July.

I gave you a specific state health department guideline issued in late October dealing specifically with dining and you are claiming that doesn't apply because there was an earlier guideline in July that was less restrictive (when there wasn't a Covid surge going on)?
Also, Newsom was in a "private gathering." The event was a private function not open to the public.
