No one except Gavin's political fortunes. It benefitted no one else.

I hate to tell you but it's the only fucking way we can win the next presidential election. Wake up. We lost every swing state. And we're never gonna win saying Uncle Rico can put on a wig and play women's softball. Also, Newsom was in a "private gathering." The event was a private function not open to the public.

There’s a difference between a private residence and an open restaurant, as is pointed out in the article I posted. The gathering followed the protocol set in place for open restaurants in Napa county.

But it wasn't an open restaurant. It was a closed restaurant that was hosting a private event for Newsom and 11 friends.

In any event, I think we have beat this topic to death. You are making a highly legalistic argument that no one -- not even Newsom -- thinks is a good argument. We can agree to disagree as to whether he was violating the policy he was espousing under some sort of "restaurant exception". It matters not to the central problem with his Covid leadership and his character in general.

You think Newsom is winning swing voters with the shitshow he put on tonight?

No, he is not. When Newsom says everything was going fine until Trump called in the guard he is not getting Mr. & Ms. Swing Voter in PA, MI and WI.

And if people like you are responsible for getting this assclown on the Democratic ticket in 2028 and we have to deal with 4-8 more years of JD Vance, you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

And I have no problem with Newsom asserting conservative political positions. My problem is that his new political views are just views of convenience because Biden/Harris lost. He is so transparent and middle America sees that. If you want to win swing voters, pick genuine candidates who did not change their views with the wind simply to be the flavor of the week.

As I pointed out earlier, it was a bad decision on his part, one which he owned. The other was pointing out to you that he was not in violation of any policies at the time. The restaurant was open and they were following appropriate guidelines.

There’s really nothing there to argue, it was a mistake and they were not breaking any guidelines.

I've given my reasons. In short, he is a phony and a fraud. I mean, I don't hate him as much as Trump, or basically any Republican, but it is hard to think of too many Democrats that I like less than him.

Most swing voters hold their nose and vote for Trump. And middle America doesn't see shit. They're dumb as all fuck. That's why 2016 and 2024 even happened. So if we need to kiss some ass and play some games to at least get the tide turning in a different direction, do it. All this stuff about him not being genuine, are you even serious? Who fucking cares? Trump may be the least genuine person on earth, and quite possibly the lowest character person on earth. And middle America lapped him up like a dog that found a bowl of gravy. As to whatever flavor he wants to present, well, 3.5 years before an election is a good time to start. It might be the smartest thing a Democrat has done in a while. As far as I’m concerned, you’re free to hate on Newsom for whatever reason you choose—and I happen to agree that he’s slimy.

That said, you’ve articulated no viable argument regarding what you would rather him do in this current situation.

Would you rather he not say anything? If so, what do you think that would accomplish?

Would you rather he not do a glow-up self-promotion on prime time? Is your disdain sparked by the manner and platform in which the message was delivered, rather than the content of the message?

What about the message itself do you hate so much?
