Does anyone Think Gavin is actually coming up with this stuff? Or do you think he has a staffer doing it? Or is it an AI app?
I would imagine you could use a prompt like: “ write a tweet in ALL CAPS to troll Donald Trump using his own lingo against him”

Fetterman? You're struggling for examples when you include him on any list other than "most likely to be primaried."

And let's be honest: None of those guys carry enough weight politically to meet the moment. Beshear, Cooper, and Murphy are all excellent, but none of them have the charisma or presence to win the presidency.

Newsom is currently the only politician willing to go head to head with Trump. He's the one out there right now taking the fight to Trump at a time when ALL of our Democratic politicians should be doing it.

My choice is Pete Buttigieg, but if we're going to lean into the white hetero archetype for safety's sake, then Newsom at this moment is the guy because he's the only one willing to be the guy.
Then we will lose in 2028. It’s that simple.

Except it’s never that simple is it? The Republicans ran a convicted felon, one-term President who had the most disgraceful exit in political history, and somehow won back the White House with him anyway.

Never, ever try to read the minds of the voters in this country three years out and think you can predict what they’ll do.

I have to admit that I'm sorta impressed that all of them can get through that segment without succumbing to terminal embarrassment.
Empathy and self scouting might be the most consequential characteristic explanations for why someone ends up conservative or pro-social, in this era.

I predict it will be a disaster if we run Gavin Newsom and I’m prefectly fine never finding out because we come to our senses and don’t nominate him. I have zero interest in finding out whether I am wrong by way of a real-life experiment.

I was adamant about not running Kamala when most on the board said we had to due to the perceptions or because it would free up $250 million. Having someone so closely tied to Biden was a huge anchor last November. And having someone tied to California will be huge disaster in 2028.

I am going to vote for the antifa candidate, regardless of who it is. I would take Newsom over every name you listed, though. He's been the only Democrat being the aggressor. America desperately needs the democratic party to grow a spine and since Obama can't run again, I will gladly support someone filling that role.

Yea I see your points
I guess the likely Pub candidate will be important
If some present Taker State Pub Gov is the nominee -I love Newsome's message on a welfare State Gov versus Calis 80 Billion a year net comtribition to the USA

This has nothing to do with who I would personally prefer to be president. If we could just appoint a prime minister, like in a parliamentary system, I’d feel completely different.

But Democrats must win the presidency in 2028. We need the absolute easiest possible candidate to elect. One with as few negatives as possible. I’d be fine with a Congressman or celebrity because inexperience is not a negative in today’s environment.

So this has nothing to do with “liking” a candidate. I “like” Mayor Pete but this is not the cycle for him.

We get it you don't like Newsom but at this point he is the only Democrat showing backbone and finally fighting Trump with fire. It's interesting, I think some don't like him because he is a straight, white man. If so, I think that is silly. Pritzker and Hochul are also fighting back to a lesser extent.

Right now Newsom is emerging as the de facto leader of the Democratic party and he is acting like it.

Part of the reason I dislike Newsom is that he is a phony. But at least half of my political dislike of him is that he is a real risk to win the democratic nomination and lose the general election. Anything I can do to spread the gospel against Newsom is a political positive.

So J.D. goes the way of Dan Quayle and Mike Pence... Republican VP's who don't even get a chance at the Party's nomination?
If Trump doesn't finagle a way to run for a third term, Vance will be the GOP heir apparent. If not him, who? Don Jr.? Stephen Miller? Little Marco? A Taker State Pub Gov?

I think Republican governor from the South or Midwest would be the most likely candidate.

You may be fighting an uphill battle. You'll have to declare allegiance to somebody else - and not a list of 3,000,000 Southern or Midwestern white, hetero, Christian boys. And certainly not a list of names which includes Fetterman.

I know Fetterman is really hated on this board and rightfully so. He really seems like he would be a hit with Joe and Eileen Bailey - ie a Republican.

But strategically, he would be a reaonable candidate for Democrats. On the downside, he has significant physical and mental health questions and he would not generate any excitement from the base. But Biden 2020 did not generate any excitement from the base and also had health questions. Yet he won fairly comfortably.

At some point this board needs to accept that there is very little overlap with the candidates it likes and the candidates that are electable.
