I guess I'm trying to understand the reasons someone votes for him in a primary given his pretty dismal record in CA. I get voting for him in a general election vs whoever the republican candidate is. But of all those on the dem side, he would be the last one I would vote for in a primary. 2nd to last if kamala was in the primary. He is smart, has charisma, and is a player in the party. But those traits didn't aid his actual performance in CA. If he was a college football coach based on his record he would likely be fired and not someone people would likely want at UNC.
If he was a college football coach based on his record and compared to the records of other governors, he’d be Nick Fucking Saban.

Yes, he did do a good job as Governor of a state with the 4th largest economy in the world.

I’ll repeat that: California has the 4th largest economy in the world, recently passing Japan. And that growth happened under Newsom. +6% in 2024, which significantly outpaced the national average. +4.3% midyear 2025, again outpacing national average.

And he did all this while pushing WOKE DEI DEVILRY AND MANDATING SEX REASSIGNMENT SURGERY FOR ALL KINDERGARTNERS!
OK sure.

I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation. I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

What makes you think he's doing a bad job in California? California is the top is the most important state in the union...and is the biggest donor to welfare states.

He was re-elected for a reason.

if you disagree, then provide the data to back up your claim.
Nothing I can say or post is going to change your mind if you believe newsome has done a good job in ca. For every statistic I throw out regarding say homelessness, cost of living, crime, education, net migration, deficits, etc. you are going to find some issue or reason to dismiss it so we can save time by saying we just disagree on his performance.

This was an interesting article related to your claim

I would like to see an initiative in California to eliminate term limits and allow Gavin Newsom to run for Governor again. It would preserve his platform and he would remain a difficult opponent for Trump (and any regular persons) to target given the security and authority the Governorship wields.

I’m missing your analogy here. What is the relationship between Newsome and Best? Newsome is a 2 term Gov of California. If he were a terrible Gov, he’d be a one term Gov.
I was being silly - in your post you said "I personally like Pete best" and I was joking that you were referring to the drummer Pete Best who was the drummer for the Beatles before Ringo Starr

Throw them out...just make sure you understand them.

We can then find a factual set of KPIs that matter to all and compare them against whichever governor or state you like.
Not "i heard" or "I saw", facts.

Education
Crime
Economy/Jobs/Federal contribution
Science/technology
Health

CA is not perfect, but I'd be interested in your criteria and who is doing a better job.
